Valley of flower nestled in West Himalayas in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Valley of flower was declared a national park in 1982, and in 1988 valley of flower was inscribed under UNESCO World Heritage List.
Since 2004, valley of flower along with Nanda Devi Biosphere reserves listed in UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves. Valley boosts various endemic alpine flowers & sustains around 300 species of flower like Geranium, Marsh marigold, Himalayan lue poppy, Aconitum, Delphinium, Ranunculus, Morina, Geum, Asters, Braham kamal and many others. The valley of flower gets various blooming colorful flowers from July till September. At different altitude, the valley embraces different alpine vegetation which makes it richly diverse area & home to variety Fauna and Flora. It also houses the rare and endangered animals as Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, brown bear and blue sheep. Valley Of Flowers covers an area of 87.5 sq km. The entire region is adorned with sparkling waterfalls, glittering glaciers, soaring mountains & glorious rivers.
Valley of flower Route: Motorable road is accessible till Govindghat which is 275 kms from Haridwar. From Govindghat to Ghangaria, trek for 14 Kms need to be undertaken which is base camp for Valley of flower. Further from Ghangaria to Valley of flower, the trekking for 05 Kms is required (one way) & same day return to Ghangaria since overnight halt is not allowed at Valley of flower.
