Badrinath Yatra

Badrinath Kedarnath Yatra

The Badrinath Kedarnath Yatra includes the two revered Hindu temples of Badrinath and Kedarnath, which are located in the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand. The Badrinath temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism, known as the Char Dham. The Kedarnath temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, or symbols of the god.
The Yatra begins with a visit to the Kedarnath temple, located in the Rudraprayag district. The temple is situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters and can only be reached by foot or by helicopter. Then continue to Badrinath temple located in the town of Badrinath in the Chamoli district. The temple is situated at an altitude of 3,133 meters and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains.

The shrines - Kedarnath Badrinath are one of the yatra which requires 6 days from Dehradun/Haridwar/Rishikesh. However, the yatra is considered to be one of the most challenging and strenuous pilgrimage circuits in India, due to the high altitude and rugged terrain. So, it is advisable to be physically fit and especially for senior citizens to do medical fitness test before the Badrinath Kedarnath Yatra. Also check weather conditions as the best time to visit the temples is during the months of May to June and September to October.
