The Complete Registration Guide for Char Dham & Hemkund Yatra

Published on 3 months ago

As the nation moves on from the Mahakumbh, the grandest celebration of Kumbh Mela in 144 years, the pilgrim season has just begun. Devotees are now preparing for the sacred journeys to Char Dham (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri) and Hemkund Sahib. Here are some important details for the devotees regarding registration in 2025:

  • The Char Dham Yatra will commence on April 29
  • The registration portal for Char Dham will open on March 2.
  • Registration for Hemkund Sahib is expected to start in mid-April.

Since registration is mandatory for all pilgrims, this guide provides a step-by-step process to help you complete your Yatra registration smoothly.

Why is Yatra Registration Mandatory?

The Uttarakhand government has made registration compulsory for the following reasons:

  • Pilgrim safety – Authorities can monitor pilgrims and provide immediate assistance if needed.
  • Crowd management – Helps regulate the number of visitors and prevents overcrowding.
  • Real-time alerts – Pilgrims receive weather updates, road conditions, and emergency notifications.

Without registration, entry to these holy sites is not allowed.
