About

This is a private 8 days Golden Triangle tour of India for first-time visitors. Over eight days you see Delhi, the Taj Mahal at sunrise and Jaipur, the Pink City, plus two stops most tours skip: Fatehpur Sikri and the Chand Baori stepwell at Abhaneri.

You get two nights in each city, your own driver and guide for the whole trip, and a quiet final night in Delhi before your flight. Prices start at about Rs.186,000 per couple (Premium tier, twin sharing).

India can feel like a lot the first time. The noise, the traffic, the people offering to help at every gate. The Golden Triangle is the gentlest way in: three famous cities, a few hours apart, on some of the best roads in the country.

What makes this version different is the pace and the support. You are met at the airport, briefed on the first evening, and walked from your car to every monument gate by a licensed guide. You never have to work out tickets, bargain with a rickshaw driver or wave away a tout on your own. You just get to look.

This is a tailor-made India Golden Triangle itinerary and a private Golden Triangle tour India travellers can shape to their own pace. It works as a Delhi Agra Jaipur tour package for a couple, a family or friends, and as a first look at India before planning a longer trip. You travel with your own driver and guide in one private vehicle, with bottled water on board and licensed guides at every monument. It is the best India tour for first time visitors who want a short, well-supported start: the cities are close, the roads are good and the hotels are chosen for comfort. It is also a golden triangle tour package with Fatehpur Sikri and a Taj Mahal sunrise tour built in, and an 8 day Golden Triangle plan with a Delhi Agra Jaipur itinerary that leaves time to rest.

Three tiers change the hotels. Premium uses well-reviewed hotels with Taj Mahal views in Agra and a restored haveli in Jaipur. Luxury moves to The Claridges, a Taj-view luxury hotel and Jai Mahal Palace. Ultra-Luxury books The Imperial, The Oberoi Amarvilas and Rambagh Palace. Hotels can be changed city by city.

ACCOMMODATION CATEGORIES

Tier names only, no star ratings. Agra has no historic palace hotel, so the Ultra-Luxury stay there is a Mughal-style hotel, and Delhi’s Premium hotel is confirmed at booking. Where a cell names a category instead of a hotel, the ground team confirms the property at booking.

Why This Is a Good First India Tour

You are looked after from the first minute

A named driver and guide wait for you at Delhi arrivals with a name board. On the first evening, your guide comes to the hotel for a short chat about what to drink, where to eat, how to handle cash, how to get a local SIM or eSIM, what to wear at temples and which approaches to ignore. Day 2 starts calm, not confused.

Two nights in every city

Many short Golden Triangle tours see the Taj Mahal at dawn and then drive five hours to Jaipur the same day. We don’t. Agra gets two nights, so after sunrise at the Taj you can go back for breakfast, see one more site and have a free afternoon. The same goes for Delhi and Jaipur.

No touts, no shopping traps

At the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, your guide walks you from the car to the gate and back, handling tickets and shoe covers. There is one shopping stop on the whole trip, an artisan workshop in Jaipur, and you are free to say no to anything else anyone offers.

One car, one driver, start to finish

The same air-conditioned car and driver stay with you for all eight days, with sealed bottled water on board every day. Your guide keeps a first-aid kit and all your hotel details in one place.

A slow, sensible ending

Your last night is back in Delhi, so the drive from Jaipur and your international flight never fall on the same day. Day 8 is kept free until your airport transfer.

WHY BOOK THIS WITH BIZAREXPEDITION

A first trip to India goes well when the small things are handled. These are the ones that matter on this route.

  • Met at the airport, handed over at the airport. A named driver and guide meet you at Delhi arrivals on Day 1 and take you to the hotel. On Day 8 the same driver takes you to the departure terminal at the time that suits your flight.

  • One private vehicle with bottled water on board. The same driver and car stay with you for all eight days. Sealed bottled water is in the car every day, and the guide keeps a first-aid kit and your hotel addresses in one place.

  • A briefing before the sightseeing starts. On the first evening in Delhi the guide explains water and food, scams to ignore, how to handle cash, and how to get a local SIM or eSIM. Tipping and dress are covered too, so Day 2 starts calmly.

  • Licensed guides who stop the touting. At the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri you are escorted from vehicle to gate and back. You never need to answer the people who approach you at the gates, and the guide arranges everything, from tickets to shoe covers.

  • An easy pace on the long days. Agra has two nights, so the Taj Mahal sunrise is not followed by a drive. The Agra–Jaipur day has two stops that break up the road, and the last night is in Delhi, with the whole of Day 8 free for the flight home.

  • Direct ground operator. BizareXpedition Services Pvt. Ltd. (CIN U63090UR2016PTC007433), based in Haridwar, runs this route itself, with hotels, vehicle and guides booked directly, and a 24-hour contact number is shared before you land.

Best Time to Visit the Golden Triangle

Season Window Impact

Peak

November – February

Cool, dry days and the best conditions for long sightseeing days. December and January bring cold nights and heavy morning fog in north India, which can slow the Yamuna Expressway and delay Delhi flights. Delhi’s air quality is often poor between November and January. Hotels fill early around Christmas and New Year.

Shoulder

October, March

Warm days and pleasant evenings. Diwali, usually in October or November, brings lights and traffic in all three cities. Holi in March brings colour to the streets, and guests should ask before photographing anyone.

Summer

April – June

Daytime heat often passes 40°C. Sightseeing moves to early morning and late afternoon, and the Taj Mahal visit at sunrise is the comfortable option.

Monsoon

July – September

Humid, with irregular rain. The cities are quieter and greener, and the Taj Mahal still opens at sunrise on rainy days.

India's Golden Triangle Season Adjustments

PRACTICAL NOTES

  • Water and food.

Drink only sealed bottled water, and use it to brush your teeth. Avoid ice and tap water. Eat freshly cooked, hot food, and skip salads and unpeeled raw fruit. The guide picks the lunch stops, and the hotels cook for international guests daily.

  • Health before you travel.

See your doctor or a travel clinic four to six weeks before departure about routine and travel vaccinations. BizareXpedition does not give medical advice. Bring your usual medicines, a basic stomach kit and sunscreen.

  • Approaches from strangers.

Near monuments and in markets, people may offer to guide you, sell you a gem or steer you to a shop, often for a commission. You can say no politely and keep walking. Your guide walks with you, so you never have to negotiate on your own.

  • Money.

Carry a small amount of rupees for tips and small purchases. Cards work at hotels and larger shops. Use ATMs inside banks or hotels, and tell your bank about your trip.

  • Phone and internet.

Wi-Fi is available at all the hotels. A local SIM or eSIM can be set up at the airport or with the guide’s help on the first evening.

  • Taj Mahal Fridays.

The Taj Mahal is closed to general visitors on Fridays, and the plan is adjusted around that. It opens about half an hour before sunrise. Bags are checked at the gate, so carry a small one and leave tripods and bulky items in the car.

  • Visa.

Citizens of most Western countries apply online for an India e-Tourist visa at indianvisaonline.gov.in. Apply well before you fly, and check the current rules and fees for your nationality, since they can change.

  • Dress and temples.

Light, loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees suits both the weather and the mosques and temples. You will be asked to remove shoes at religious sites.

  • Tipping.

Tips for drivers, guides and hotel staff are at your discretion. A common range is Rs.500–1,000 per day for the driver and guide combined, and small change for hotel porters.

Itinerary (Day Wise)

India can be a lot to take in the first time: the traffic, the noise, someone offering to help at every gate. The Golden Triangle is the easiest way in, and this 8-day trip is paced for people who’ve never been. Your driver and guide meet you at Delhi airport and stay with you in the same car the whole way. On the first evening your guide sits down with you to go over water, food, money, SIM cards and which offers to ignore. You ride a cycle rickshaw through Old Delhi, then head to Agra, where two nights mean you can see the Taj Mahal at sunrise and still have a free afternoon. On the way to Jaipur you stop at Fatehpur Sikri and the deep stepwell at Abhaneri, and in Jaipur you take a jeep up to Amber Fort. Your last night is back in Delhi, so you never have to fit a long drive and an international flight into the same day.

Day 2

DELHI | OLD DELHI, JAMA MASJID & HUMAYUN’S TOMB

Route: Delhi hotel → Old Delhi → Jama Masjid → Humayun’s Tomb → India Gate

The morning is in Old Delhi, the Mughal-era walled city. A cycle rickshaw takes you through the Chandni Chowk lanes, past spice sellers and sweet shops, to Jama Masjid, built between 1650 and 1656 under Shah Jahan. The guide keeps the rickshaw route short and the stops planned, so the crowds stay manageable.

The afternoon is at Humayun’s Tomb, begun in 1565 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a tomb standing on a raised platform in the middle of a four-part garden, built in red sandstone with white marble inlay. The Taj Mahal later used the same plan, only in white marble, and the tomb is the best place to understand why the Taj sits where it does in its own garden.

The day ends with a drive past India Gate and the government buildings of New Delhi.

Note on air quality: From November to January Delhi’s air quality can be poor and mornings are often foggy. If the air is bad on your day, the guide moves outdoor stops to the afternoon and offers an indoor museum visit.

Day 3

DELHI → AGRA | AGRA FORT & MEHTAB BAGH AT SUNSET

Route: Delhi → Agra (~230 km / ~4 hrs)

The drive south is on the Yamuna Expressway and reaches Agra around lunchtime. After a rest at the hotel, the afternoon is at Agra Fort, the red sandstone fortress-palace of the Mughal emperors. Shah Jahan’s last years were spent here, and from one of its balconies he could see the Taj Mahal he built for his wife.

At sunset you go to Mehtab Bagh, a garden directly across the Yamuna from the Taj Mahal, for the first look at the monument. Sunrise tomorrow is the main visit.

Note on Agra hotels: Agra has no historic palace hotel. The Oberoi Amarvilas (Ultra-Luxury) is built in Mughal palace style and sits 600 metres from the Taj Mahal. The Premium and Luxury hotels are chosen for their Taj Mahal views.

Activities to Do

–  Trace the Mughal rooms inside Agra Fort

–  Photograph the Taj Mahal from the far bank of the river

Day 4

AGRA | TAJ MAHAL AT SUNRISE & ITIMAD-UD-DAULAH

Route: Agra hotel → Taj Mahal → hotel breakfast → Itimad-ud-Daulah

The Taj Mahal opens about half an hour before sunrise. The marble seems to change colour as the light shifts from grey to soft pink to ivory-white. The effect is real: the marble is slightly translucent, and low sunlight passes through it differently as the sun climbs. Shah Jahan built it between 1632 and 1653 as the tomb of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Your guide walks you from the car to the gate, handles the tickets and shoe covers, and keeps you clear of the people who approach visitors in the queue. The visit takes about two hours, and you are back at the hotel for breakfast.

Later in the morning you visit Itimad-ud-Daulah, a small tomb across the river built from 1622 to 1628, whose inlaid marble work came before the Taj’s. The rest of the day is free.

Note on Fridays: The Taj Mahal is closed to general visitors on Fridays. If Day 4 falls on a Friday, the Taj visit moves to Day 3 and Agra Fort moves to Day 4, and the guide confirms the plan before you leave Delhi.

Experience of the Day

–  Taj Mahal at sunrise

–  Breakfast back at the hotel

–  Itimad-ud-Daulah tomb

–  Free afternoon

Food

Recommended:

Optional Nearby Excursions

Day 5

AGRA → JAIPUR | FATEHPUR SIKRI, CHAND BAORI & THE ROAD TO THE PINK CITY

Route: Agra → Fatehpur Sikri (~37 km) → Abhaneri → Jaipur (~240 km / 5–6 hrs plus stops)

Fatehpur Sikri is the first stop, about an hour from Agra. Akbar founded it in 1571 and moved the court there. He left in 1585, and the usual explanation is that the water supply failed. The Buland Darwaza gateway rises 54 metres, the Panch Mahal has five storeys of open columns, and Salim Chishti’s white marble tomb stands in the mosque courtyard.

The road continues to Abhaneri and Chand Baori, a stepwell of 3,500 steps in 13 tiers, about 30 metres deep, built around 800–900 CE. The temple of Harshat Mata stands beside it. Jaipur is about two hours further, and you reach the hotel in the early evening.

Experience of the Day

–  Fatehpur Sikri, Buland Darwaza and the palace courts

–  Chand Baori stepwell at Abhaneri

–  Evening arrival at the Jaipur hotel

Food

Recommended:

–  Lunch at a vetted restaurant on the highway, picked by the guide

Must-Try:

–  Fresh lime soda at the Fatehpur Sikri gate, made with bottled water on request

Activities to Do

–  Climb to the Buland Darwaza for the view over the ruined city

–  Look down the 13 tiers of Chand Baori from the rim

Day 6

JAIPUR | HAWA MAHAL, AMBER FORT, CITY PALACE & JANTAR MANTAR

Route: Jaipur hotel → Hawa Mahal → Amber Fort → City Palace → Jantar Mantar

Hawa Mahal is first, seen from across the street. It was built in 1799 with 953 small windows, so the royal women could watch the street below without being seen. It faces east, so the morning light is best.

Amber Fort, built in the late 1500s on a ridge above Maota Lake, comes next. Guests go up by private jeep. Elephant rides here have drawn well-documented welfare criticism, including a PETA India campaign and a government committee’s recommendation to use electric vehicles instead.

The City Palace is in the old city and is still partly the home of Jaipur’s royal family. Next door, Jantar Mantar is a UNESCO World Heritage observatory built between 1728 and 1734. Its Samrat Yantra sundial tells time to within about two seconds.

Note on shopping: The only shopping stop is one artisan workshop, which is in the inclusions. You are free to say no to anything else the guide or shopkeepers offer.

Experience of the Day

–  Hawa Mahal in morning light

–  Amber Fort by private jeep, courtyards and the mirrored Sheesh Mahal

–  City Palace courtyards and museum

–  Jantar Mantar instruments

Food

Recommended:

–  Lunch at a local restaurant near the City Palace

Must-Try:

–  Pyaaz kachori

–  Dal baati churma

–  Ghewar, the honeycomb sweet of Rajasthan

Shopping — Where & What to Buy

–  Block-printed textiles and blue pottery, from the artisan workshop in the inclusions

–  Silver and gem jewellery in Johari Bazaar, for browsing

Activities to Do

–  Spot the mirrored ceiling of the Sheesh Mahal in Amber Fort

–  Compare the sundial and observatory instruments at Jantar Mantar

–  Count the windows of Hawa Mahal from the street

Optional Nearby Excursions

–  Nahargarh Fort at sunset for a view over the city

Day 7

JAIPUR → DELHI | A FREE MORNING, THEN THE ROAD NORTH

Route: Jaipur → Delhi (~280 km / 4–5 hrs)

The morning is free at the hotel: breakfast on a terrace, the gardens at Jai Mahal Palace, or a last walk through Rambagh Palace’s grounds. The drive to Delhi takes four to five hours on the Delhi–Jaipur expressway, with a rest stop on the way.

You reach Delhi in the early evening. The last night is in Delhi on purpose, so the flight home is never packed into the same day as the drive.

Experience of the Day

–  Free morning at the Jaipur hotel

–  Expressway drive to Delhi

–  Evening at the Delhi hotel

Food

Recommended:

–  A farewell dinner at the hotel or a restaurant chosen by the guide

Activities to Do

–  Pack and repack for the flight home

–  Share any last questions with the guide

Day 8

DEPART DELHI | END OF TRIP

Route: Delhi hotel → Delhi airport

Check out after breakfast, or earlier if your flight needs it, and transfer to the airport with your driver. The driver and guide help you with your bags and see you to the terminal.

Experience of the Day

–  Private transfer to the airport

Food

Recommended:

–  Breakfast at the hotel before check-out

Activities to Do

–  Say goodbye to your driver and guide at the terminal

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) & People Also Ask — India's Golden Triangle

We help you prepare for your trip and ensure an effortless and enjoyable travel experience.

Is a Golden Triangle tour safe for first-time visitors?

Yes, with sensible precautions. Violent crime against tourists is rare, and the usual problems are petty theft in crowds and pressure from touts. On this tour you travel in a private vehicle with your own driver and guide, you are met at the airport, and the hotels are chosen for comfort and location.

Can I drink the water and eat the food in India?

Drink sealed bottled water only, and brush your teeth with it. Avoid ice and tap water, salads and unpeeled raw fruit. Eat freshly cooked, hot food at the restaurants and hotels the guide picks.

How many days do you need for the Golden Triangle?

Eight days gives you two nights each in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur and a final night in Delhi. Five or six days is possible, but the Taj Mahal sunrise and the long drive to Jaipur then fall on the same day.

Which direction should the Golden Triangle run?

The usual order is Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and back to Delhi. It puts the Taj Mahal early, before long travel tires you, and puts Fatehpur Sikri and Chand Baori on the road between Agra and Jaipur. You can reverse it on request.

What is the best time to visit the Golden Triangle?

October to March has the most comfortable weather. December and January bring cold nights and heavy fog, and Delhi’s air quality is often poor between November and January. April to June is very hot, often above 40°C.

Is the Taj Mahal open on Fridays?

No, the Taj Mahal is closed to general visitors on Fridays. If your Agra day falls on a Friday, the Taj visit and Agra Fort swap days, so you still see both.

Do I need a visa for India?

Citizens of about 166 countries can apply online for an e-Tourist visa at indianvisaonline.gov.in. Passports need at least six months’ validity and two blank pages. Processing usually takes up to a few days, so apply early and check the current rules and fees for your nationality.

What should I do about touts and scams at the Taj Mahal and in the markets?

Politely say no and keep walking. People near monuments may offer to guide you or steer you to a shop for a commission. Your guide meets you at the car, takes you to the gate and back, and handles the tickets.

Is Delhi’s air pollution a problem for visitors?

It can be between November and January, when air quality is often poor and mornings are foggy. If you have asthma or another lung condition, ask your doctor before you book, and consider October, February or March. The guide adjusts outdoor stops if the air is bad on your day.

Is this tour suitable for families with children and for solo travellers?

Yes. The route is short, the roads are good, and you travel in one private vehicle. Tell us the ages of children or any special needs in advance, and we will plan the pace, the rooms and the meals to suit.

What vaccinations or health precautions do I need?

Ask your doctor or a travel clinic four to six weeks before you travel, since advice depends on your health and your home country. Bring your usual medicines and a basic stomach kit.

How much does a private Golden Triangle tour of India cost?

The modelled price for this 8-day tour is Rs.186,000–Rs.200,900 per couple at Premium, Rs.283,000–Rs.305,600 at Luxury and Rs.542,600–Rs.586,000 at Ultra-Luxury, twin sharing. These are indicative ranges, not a live quote.
