Detailed Do dham Yatra by Helicopter Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Dehradun
Your journey begins with a pick-up from the Dehradun airport or railway station, followed by a transfer to a deluxe premium hotel.
In the evening, the aviation team conducts a safety briefing and provides duffle bags for your essentials, as large suitcases are not permitted on the helicopter.
Day 2: Dehradun to Kedarnath Dham
You will be transferred to the Sahastradhara Helipad early in the morning to fly to the Kedarnath valley (landing at Phata, Sirsi, or Guptkashi).
A government shuttle helicopter then takes you directly to the Kedarnath Helipad, located just 400–500 metres from the temple.
You will receive VIP Darshan access to avoid long queues.
Optional sightseeing includes the Bhairav Temple, Gandhi Sarovar, and the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi.
The night stay is typically arranged in Guptkashi or Phata at a luxury resort, though some packages offer stays near the temple for those wishing to attend the evening Aarti or Rudrabhishek.
Day 3: Kedarnath/Guptkashi to Badrinath Dham
After breakfast, you fly to the Badrinath Helipad, where you are transferred to a luxury hotel for check-in.
Following VIP Darshan at the Badrinath Temple, you will visit Mana Village, the last Indian village before the China border, to see the Saraswati River, Bhim Pul, and the Vyas and Ganesh Gufa.
The night is spent at a premium hotel in Badrinath.
Day 4: Return to Dehradun
After a final breakfast, you fly back to Sahastradhara Helipad in Dehradun, where the yatra concludes.
What is the luggage weight limit for the helicopter?
The luggage weight limit and general weight restrictions for the helicopter yatra are as follows:
Provided Duffle Bags: Passengers are provided with specific duffle bags to carry their belongings during the journey. Large suitcases are strictly prohibited to ensure safety and space management on the helicopter.
Luggage Weight: As mentioned the weight limit for this provided duffle bag is typically 5 kg.
Total Weight Limit per Passenger: The standard weight limit per passenger is generally 75 kg. Single-engine helicopters used for these tours typically have a total maximum weight capacity of 450 kg for all passengers combined.
Excess Weight Charges: If a passenger's weight exceeds the standard limit (75 kg), aviation applies an additional charge for balancing the aircraft. This fee is usually between ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 per extra kilogram.
Weight Checks: Every passenger's weight is strictly measured before boarding at the helipad, in the Sahastradhara Helipad in Dehradun.
What happens if my total weight exceeds 75 kg?
If your total weight exceeds the standard limit of 75 kg, the following rules and charges will apply according -
Aviation companies will impose an additional fee for every kilogram over the limit. This cost is typically between ₹1,500 and ₹2,500 per extra kilogram. Even if you pay for extra body weight, you are still restricted to carrying only the provided 5 kg duffle bag for your personal items. Large suitcases remain strictly prohibited due to limited space in the helicopter. If you are travelling with a group, the aviation team monitors the combined weight of all passengers to ensure it stays within the helicopter's operational limits.
What is the best month to book for good weather?
In the Himalayas, the "best" weather is generally considered to be the pre-monsoon period (May and June) and the post-monsoon period (September and October) when skies are typically clearer. July and August are usually avoided due to heavy monsoon rains which significantly increase the risk of flight cancellations and landslides. You may want to independently verify the specific weather forecasts for your intended travel dates.
Peak Season Popularity: This indicates that demand for May and June is so high that slots for these months often become fully booked as early as January.
Start of the Season: The pilgrimage typically begins in the April season.
Weather Unpredictability: Regardless of the month you choose, mountain weather is described as inherently unpredictable. Flights are frequently delayed or cancelled due to rain, fog, or poor visibility.
The Buffer Day Requirement: Because weather can disrupt flight schedules at any time, it is strongly recommended to keep at least one buffer day in your travel plans, particularly for your return from the Dhams.
Booking Strategy: If you plan to fly during the peak season, the booking 30 days in advance to ensure you can secure a slot before they are full.

Essential Guidelines for Pilgrims
Weight Restrictions: There is a strict weight limit of 75 kg per passenger. If a passenger exceeds this, an additional charge (typically ₹1,500–₹2,500 per kg) may apply for aircraft balancing.
Baggage: Passengers must only carry the provided 5 kg duffle bag; large suitcases are strictly prohibited.
Weather Conditions: Mountain weather is highly unpredictable; flights may be delayed or cancelled due to rain or fog. It is strongly recommended to keep at least one buffer day in your travel plans.
Required Documents: You must carry your original Aadhaar Card or Voter ID and complete the mandatory Chardham registration.
Booking Advice: Seats are limited, so booking 2 to 3 months in advance is advised.
Scam Warning: Only book through verified and registered tour operators to avoid prevalent online scams involving fake cheap tickets and unofficial payment links.
What items should I pack in the 5 kg bag?
Since you are limited to a 5 kg duffle bag (which is provided to you in Dehradun to replace large suitcases), you must pack efficiently for the varying climates of the Himalayas. Here are the essential items you should include:
1. Mandatory Documents - You must carry your original Aadhaar Card or Voter ID. Your mandatory Chardham Registration documents.
2. Clothing for Cold Weather - Kedarnath is located at an altitude of 11,755 feet, where it can be very cold. Pack a high-quality jacket and a sweater. These are lightweight and highly effective for layering without taking up much space in your 5 kg bag. Include a pair of gloves, a warm cap (muffler), and multiple pairs of woollen socks.
3. Footwear - Even though this is a "no trekking" yatra, you will still need to walk approximately 400–500 metres at Kedarnath and up to 1 km at Badrinath from the helipads to the temples. Pack comfortable shoes with a good grip.
4. Health and Personal Care - Carry a basic medical kit including medicines for altitude sickness, motion sickness, and any personal prescriptions. Sunscreen and lip balm are essential, as the sun can be quite harsh at high altitudes.
Packing Tip: To stay within the 5 kg limit, the best strategy is to wear your heaviest clothes (like your heavy jacket and walking shoes) during the helicopter flights rather than packing them in the duffle bag. This leaves more room for your change of clothes and personal items.
What kind of stays will I get and at which places
For the 3-night and 4-day luxury Do Dham Yatra, your accommodations are specifically selected to be luxury or premium to ensure maximum comfort throughout the pilgrimage. The stays are arranged at the following locations:
1. Dehradun (Night 1)
Type of Stay: You will stay in a luxury hotel upon your arrival in the city.
Specific Hotels: Frequently used hotels include the Lemon Tree, Fairfield by Marriott, The Prominence, and Hotel Aketa.
Experience: This night is meant for resting and attending a safety briefing before your flight the next morning.
2. Guptkashi or Phata (Night 2)
Type of Stay: After your visit to Kedarnath, you are typically flown back down to the valley to stay in a premium resort.
Location Detail: Some stays are located in Guptkashi, which is about 24 km below Kedarnath.
Optional Kedarnath Stay: If you wish to perform a night Rudrabhishek ceremony at Kedarnath, arrangements can sometimes be made for a stay in a guest house near the Kedarnath temple instead of returning to the valley.
3. Badrinath (Night 3)
Type of Stay: You will stay in a luxury or premium hotel located near the Badrinath Temple.
Experience: Staying near the temple allows you to participate in evening ceremonies or explore the local area, such as Mana Village, more easily.
General Quality and Inclusions
Meals: These packages are "end-to-end," meaning premium vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are provided at the hotels in all locations.
Service: Because these are luxury packages, you can expect "five-star treatment" with dedicated ground staff at each helipad to assist with your hotel transfers and luggage.
What sightseeing is included at Mana Village?
At Mana Village, which is famously known as the last village of India (or the first village on the India-China border), the 3-night and 4-day helicopter package includes visits to several sites of immense historical and mythological significance.
The specific sightseeing locations included are:
Vyas Gufa (Vyas Cave): This is the sacred cave where Rishi Ved Vyas is believed to have resided. It is historically significant as the place where he dictated the Mahabharat epic.
Ganesh Gufa (Ganesh Cave): Located near Vyas Gufa, this is where Lord Ganesh is said to have written down the Mahabharat as it was narrated by Rishi Ved Vyas.
Bhim Pul: This is a massive natural rock bridge formed over the Saraswati River. According to legend, it was placed there by Bhim, one of the Pandava brothers, to help Draupadi cross the river during their journey to heaven.
Saraswati River and Temple: You will visit the spot where the Saraswati River is visible. Mythologically, Mana Village is significant because it is believed to be the path the Pandavas took on their journey to heaven (Swargarohini).
For this portion of the trip, the luxury package provides a private car transfer from the Badrinath Helipad or your hotel to Mana Village to ensure a comfortable sightseeing experience. While Mana Village is the primary stop, other nearby sites like the Vasudhara Falls are often mentioned as being in the vicinity, though they are difficult to cover in a single day due to time constraints.
What is the Rudrabhishek ceremony at Kedarnath?
The Rudrabhishek ceremony at Kedarnath is a special and highly auspicious ritual dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is typically performed as a night puja at the temple. Here are the key details regarding the ceremony as mentioned:
Timing and Location: The ceremony takes place at the Kedarnath temple during the night. Because the standard helicopter itinerary usually involves returning to the valley (Guptkashi or Phata) for the night, participating in this puja requires a change in plans.
Overnight Stay Requirement: To attend the Rudrabhishek, pilgrims must stay overnight at Kedarnath instead of flying back down to the valley. Tour operators can facilitate this by arranging accommodation in a guest house located near the temple. It is on request, plz consult to our travel consultant.
Spiritual Significance: While the helicopter package includes VIP Darshan, the Rudrabhishek is categorized as a "special puja" (विशेश पूजा) that allows devotees to spend more time near the deity and absorb the spiritual energies of the Dham.
Rudrabhishek : It is generally known in Hindu tradition that Rudrabhishek involves the ritual bathing of the Shiva Lingam with various offerings such as water, milk, honey, and curd, while chanting powerful Vedic mantras (the Shri Rudram). This ceremony is performed to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva for prosperity and the removal of obstacles. You may want to independently verify the specific ritual procedures with the temple committee (BKTC) if you plan to book it.
How can I avoid helicopter booking scams?
Helicopter booking scams for the Do Dham Yatra have become a significant concern. To protect yourself and your money, you should follow these specific guidelines provided by aviation and travel experts:
1. Beware of "Cheap Ticket" Offers
A common tactic used by scammers is to lure pilgrims by promising cheap tickets that are significantly lower than market rates. If a deal seems too good to be true, it is likely a scam. Standard luxury packages for a 3-night/4-day tour generally range from ₹1,35,000 to ₹1,50,000 per person.
2. Avoid Random Google Searches
Many scammers create fake websites that appear at the top of search results. Pilgrims who call these random numbers are often pressured into making quick payments. Instead of clicking on random links, go directly to the official websites of verified companies or registered tour operators.
3. Follow Secure Payment Practices
One of the most critical warnings is regarding how you pay for your booking:
Never transfer money via UPI to personal numbers. Scammers often provide a personal mobile number for UPI payments and then switch off their phones once the money is received.
Be wary of QR codes. Do not scan QR codes sent to you via unofficial chat apps or by unverified agents.
Only make payments to registered company bank accounts.
4. Verify the Tour Operator
Before making a booking, ensure you are dealing with a legitimate entity - Book through registered and verified tour operators who have a proven track record, have government documents like - MSME, state tourism certificate, gst, etc.
5. Book Well in Advance
Legitimate helicopter seats are limited and often sell out months before the season begins. For example, slots for May and June are frequently full as early as January. Scammers often take advantage of the desperation of last-minute travellers by claiming they have "extra" or "special" slots available.
By following these steps and insisting on 100% verified bookings through established agencies, you can ensure a safe and successful pilgrimage.
Are there any age or medical restrictions for flying?
Age Suitability
Ideal for Seniors: The helicopter package is described as the "best and most premium option" for senior citizens and elderly parents.
Avoiding Physical Stress: It is recommended for those whose bodies can no longer handle the 16 km steep trek required for traditional pilgrimage.
Medical and Health Considerations
High Altitude Concerns: While the trip is designed for comfort, some senior citizens or family members may feel concerned about staying at higher altitudes. So if you have any medical or physical condition, please consult your doctor before yatra.
Altitude of Temples: Kedarnath is situated at 11,755 feet above sea level. If staying overnight at such an altitude is a medical concern, we suggest a Kedarnath Badrinath single-day tour where you visit both Dhams and return to Dehradun by evening to avoid altitude-related issues.
Physical Assistance: Ground staff are available at every helipad to assist passengers with boarding and deboarding, making the journey "tireless" for those with mobility issues.
Medical - The trip is suitable for seniors and those with arthritis, they do not provide specific medical clearance guidelines for conditions like heart disease, chronic respiratory issues, or pregnancy. Because oxygen levels are significantly lower at 11,000+ feet, it is standard practice to consult a physician before travelling to high altitudes if you have a history of heart or lung conditions. You may want to independently verify if a medical fitness certificate is required by the specific aviation operator you choose.
What are the things to know before trip. and weather uncertainty, and what can affect the trip
Before going on a 3-night and 4-day luxury Do Dham Yatra by helicopter from Dehradun, there are several critical logistical, operational, and environmental factors you must understand to ensure a smooth pilgrimage.
Essential Things to Know Before the Trip
Booking Timeline: Helicopter seats are highly limited and in high demand. It is strongly recommended to book 2 to 3 months in advance, especially since slots for peak months like May and June often fill up as early as January.
Mandatory Documentation: You cannot board the helicopter without your original Aadhaar Card or Voter ID and a completed Chardham registration.
Weight Restrictions: Aviation safety rules are very strict. Each passenger is typically allowed a weight of 75 kg to 80 kg. If you exceed this, you will be charged an additional fee, usually between ₹2,000 and ₹2,500 per extra kilogram, to help balance the aircraft. A standard single-engine helicopter can only carry a maximum total weight of 450 kg for all passengers combined.
Luggage Policy: You cannot carry large suitcases. Instead, you will be provided with a 5 kg duffle bag in Dehradun to carry your essentials for the duration of the trip.
Start Point: The yatra officially begins at the Sahastradhara Helipad in Dehradun.
Weather Uncertainty and its Impact
Unpredictable Conditions: Himalayan weather is notoriously unpredictable.
Delays and Cancellations: Heavy rain, fog, or poor visibility can lead to flight delays or complete cancellations.
The Buffer Day Rule: Because of these uncertainties, it is highly recommended to keep at least one buffer day in your overall travel plans to account for potential weather-related disruptions.

Factors That Can Affect the Trip
Altitude Concerns: Kedarnath is situated at 11,755 feet. Some pilgrims, particularly senior citizens, may feel concerned about staying overnight at such a high altitude. For those with severe concerns, a same-day return tour is an alternative to avoid sleeping at high altitudes.
Booking Scams: The popularity of this yatra has led to a rise in fraudulent agents and fake websites. Scammers often lure pilgrims with "cheap tickets" and request payments via personal UPI numbers or QR codes. You should only book through verified and registered tour operators and make payments to official company accounts.
Operational Changes: At Kedarnath, you may need to change helicopters (shuttle transfer) at base camps like Phata, Sirsi, or Guptkashi to reach the temple helipad. These transfers are subject to government regulations and technical availability.
Physical Assistance: While the yatra is designed to be "no trekking," there is still a walk of approximately 400–500 metres at Kedarnath and about 1 km at Badrinath from the helipads to the temples. Ground staff are usually available to assist, but you should be prepared for these short distances.
