About
Only have five days in India? This short tour packs in the sights you came for, plus one that most visitors drive straight past.
You watch the Taj Mahal at sunrise, walk the Mughal forts of Agra and Fatehpur Sikri, and spend a full day among the palaces of Jaipur. On the way, you stop at Chand Baori in the village of Abhaneri: an ancient stepwell of 13 levels and about 3,500 steps, cut in a striking pattern of triangles. You travel in your own private car with the same driver throughout, and a licensed English-speaking guide at every major site.
What is the Raj to Taj Beyond tour?
Raj to Taj Beyond is a private 5-day Golden Triangle tour of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur with two stops between Agra and Jaipur: Fatehpur Sikri and the Chand Baori stepwell at Abhaneri. It includes the Taj Mahal at sunrise, Agra Fort, Amber Fort, the City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Prices start from about Rs. 67,300 per person (twin sharing, Premium hotels), and the tour runs all year.
This is a golden triangle with Abhaneri stepwell plan and a Chand Baori tour package for travellers who want the classic cities and one off-beat stop. It works as a short India tour itinerary for a couple, a family or friends, a 5 day Golden Triangle tour, and a Delhi Agra Jaipur tour with Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri. It is a short Golden Triangle India tour and a first look at the country before a longer trip, with a Taj Mahal sunrise tour built in.
Three tiers change the hotels. Premium uses well-reviewed hotels with Taj Mahal views in Agra and a restored haveli in Jaipur. Luxury moves to The Claridges, a Taj-view luxury hotel and Jai Mahal Palace. Ultra-Luxury books The Imperial, The Oberoi Amarvilas and Rambagh Palace. Hotels can be changed city by city.
What Makes This Short India Tour Different
Most 5-day Golden Triangle tours race from city to city. This one uses the long road from Agra to Jaipur as part of the experience, not just time in a car.
A stop most tours skip. Chand Baori is one of the deepest and most photographed stepwells in India, yet it sits in a quiet village with few tour buses.
Timed for the light. You reach Abhaneri in mid-afternoon, when the sun falls across the steps from the side and the triangles stand out sharply in photographs.
Two views of the Taj. Sunset from the Mehtab Bagh garden across the river, then sunrise inside the complex the next morning.
Ethical by design. You ride up to Amber Fort in a private jeep, not on an elephant.
A hands-on finish. In Jaipur you visit a block-printing family and print your own length of cloth.

Chand Baori Stepwell: What You Should Know
Chand Baori is the heart of this route, so here is a clear picture before you go.
What is Chand Baori?
Chand Baori is a stepwell in Abhaneri village, Dausa district, Rajasthan. It was built around 800 to 900 CE to store water through the long dry season. Its 13 levels and roughly 3,500 narrow steps run down three sides in a repeating pattern of triangles. It has appeared in films and countless travel photographs, and it looks even more dramatic in person.
Can you walk down the steps?
No. Visitors view the stepwell from the rim and the pillared gallery, not from the steps themselves. We tell you this up front so there is no disappointment on the day. Your guide shows you the best viewpoints and photo angles.
What else is there?
The Harshat Mata temple stands next to the stepwell and dates from the same period. Look for its carved stone fragments, and take a cup of masala chai in the village before the last two-hour drive into Jaipur.
Practical tips for the stop
Plan on about 45 to 60 minutes at Abhaneri.
The village is small with few facilities, so use the restroom at the lunch stop.
Opening hours and rules can change. Your guide confirms them on the day.

WHY BOOK THIS WITH BIZAREXPEDITION
Guests with five days want a plan that uses every day well. Here is how this route does it.
A stepwell stop timed for the light. Abhaneri comes in mid-afternoon on Day 3, after Fatehpur Sikri and lunch, when the sun lights the steps from the side. The guide confirms the site’s closing time on the day, and the timing leaves room for tea in the village.
Straight facts about access. Visitors view Chand Baori from the rim and the gallery, and are not allowed to walk down the steps. The plan says so, so there is no surprise at the site, and the guide shows the best viewing points and photograph angles.
One private vehicle with bottled water on board. The same driver and car stay with you for all five days. Sealed bottled water is in the car every day, and the guide keeps a first-aid kit and your hotel addresses in one place.
Met at the airport, handed over at the airport. A named driver and guide meet you at Delhi arrivals on Day 1. On Day 5 the same driver takes you to the departure terminal at a time that suits your flight.
Licensed guides who stop the touting. At the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri you are escorted from vehicle to gate and back. You never need to answer the people who approach you at the gates, and the guide arranges everything from tickets to shoe covers.
Direct ground operator. BizareXpedition Services Pvt. Ltd. (CIN U63090UR2016PTC007433), based in Haridwar, runs this route itself, with hotels, vehicle and guides booked directly, and a 24-hour contact number is shared before you land.

Warm days and pleasant evenings. Diwali, in October or November, brings lights and traffic. Holi in March colours the streets. |

PRACTICAL NOTES
Pace and long days.
Day 3 is the longest, with about six to seven hours on the road, a long stop at Fatehpur Sikri and a stop at Abhaneri. Delhi to Agra is about four hours, and Day 5 is a drive of five to six hours to Delhi airport.
The stepwell.
Chand Baori is viewed from the rim and the gallery, and visitors may not walk down the steps. The village is small, with few facilities, so use the toilet at the lunch halt. Rules and hours can change, and the guide confirms them on the day.
Water and food.
Drink only sealed bottled water, and use it to brush your teeth. Avoid ice and tap water. Eat freshly cooked, hot food, and skip salads and unpeeled raw fruit. Vegetarian, vegan and allergy needs are noted at booking.
Health before you travel.
See your doctor or a travel clinic four to six weeks before departure about routine and travel vaccinations. BizareXpedition does not give medical advice. Bring your usual medicines, oral rehydration salts and a basic stomach kit.
Dress and monuments.
Light, loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees suits the weather and the temples. Bring a scarf for the mosques and the village temple. Shoes come off at some religious sites.
Approaches from strangers.
Near monuments and in markets, people may offer to guide you, sell you something or steer you to a shop. You can say no politely and keep walking. Your guide walks with you, so you never have to negotiate on your own.
Money, phone and internet.
Carry a small amount of rupees for tips and small purchases. Cards work at hotels and larger shops. Wi-Fi is available at many hotels, and a local SIM or eSIM can be set up on Day 1 with the guide’s help.
Visa.
Citizens of many Western countries apply online for an India e-Tourist visa at indianvisaonline.gov.in. Apply well before you fly, and check the current rules and fees for your nationality, since they can change.
Tipping.
Tips for the driver, guide and hotel staff are at your discretion. A common range is Rs.500–1,000 per day for the driver and guide combined, and small change for hotel porters.
