  • Cross the Sudarshan Setu, India's longest cable-stayed bridge, opened in 2024, to reach Beyt Dwarka.

  • Visit the Dwarkadhish Temple at Dwarka, one of Hinduism's Char Dham and traditionally linked to Krishna's own kingdom.

About

This is a 12-day private Golden Triangle tour with Gujarat. You see Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Agra and the palaces of Jaipur, then fly to Ahmedabad and continue to the Statue of Unity and the coastal temple town of Dwarka. One company, one booking, from airport pickup in Delhi to drop-off in Ahmedabad. Prices start at about INR 149,000 per person (twin sharing).

Most first trips to India follow the same loop: Delhi, Agra, Jaipur. It's popular for good reason. The Taj Mahal really is that beautiful, and Jaipur's forts are as dramatic in person as they look in photos.

But a lot of travellers fly home feeling they only saw one slice of the country. This tour adds that missing slice. After six days in the Golden Triangle, you take a short flight west to Gujarat, a state very few visitors reach. Here you'll find a UNESCO-listed old city, the tallest statue on earth, and one of Hinduism's holiest pilgrimage towns on the Arabian Sea coast.

It's all one private trip. Your hotels, cars, drivers, guides, monument tickets and the Jaipur–Ahmedabad flight are arranged and managed by our own team. You don't have to stitch two tours together or worry about who meets you at the next airport.

Is This Tour Right for You?

This trip works best if you:

  • Are visiting India for the first time and want the famous sights plus something most tourists miss

  • Prefer a private car and your own guide over a big group bus

  • Have around two weeks and would rather see two regions properly than rush through five

  • Enjoy history, architecture, temples, food and local markets

  • Want one trusted company handling everything, start to finish

It may not suit you if long road days are a problem. The Gujarat leg includes two full driving days to and from Dwarka (about 7.5–8 hours each). If that sounds like too much, ask us about a shorter version that skips Dwarka.

Golden Triangle Only vs. Golden Triangle with Gujarat

WHY BOOK THIS WITH BIZAREXPEDITION

A 12-day north west india combined tour, planned and run as one continuous private trip by BizareXpedition, not handed off between two separate operators.

  • One booking, not two. Most Golden Triangle operators stop at Jaipur. This itinerary is built explicitly as the extension, run by a single company for the whole 12 days, so the handover between north India and Gujarat is ours to manage, not yours.

  • The one leg we don't drive. Jaipur to Ahmedabad is roughly 655 km by road. Rather than force a 12-hour driving day into a holiday, this plan flies that leg, about 1 hour 40 minutes, and still closes the loop back to Ahmedabad for departure.

  • A route fixed where it needed fixing. The sheet's Kevadia-to-Dwarka leg has no workable road option in either direction. Both Kevadia and Dwarka are instead run as return trips from Ahmedabad, adding no extra days to the sheet's stated twelve.

  • Two ground teams, one trip. A north India guide and vehicle cover Delhi, Agra and Jaipur; a separate Gujarat-based vehicle and driver take over at Ahmedabad airport. This is standard practice for a two-state combination and is disclosed here rather than left unexplained.

  • A registered company, not a middleman. BizareXpedition Services Pvt. Ltd. (CIN U63090UR2016PTC007433), headquartered in Haridwar, plans and runs the trip itself.

Best Time for the Tour

Season Months What to expect

Peak

Late October to March

Cool, dry weather across both legs. The most comfortable season for Delhi's winter smog notwithstanding, and for the two long Gujarat driving days.

Shoulder

April and September-October

Warmer in Delhi, Agra and Gujarat by midday; still workable with an earlier start on sightseeing and driving days.

Avoid

May to August

Very hot in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Gujarat alike, and the monsoon (June-September) can affect the long Ahmedabad-Dwarka drives.

Closure note

Taj Mahal closed Fridays; Statue of Unity complex closed Mondays

Departures are dated so neither visit falls on its closed day.

Golden Triangle with Gujarat Season Adjustments

PRACTICAL NOTES

  • The one flight on this trip. Jaipur to Ahmedabad is flown, about 1 hour 40 minutes, because the 655 km road option is not a reasonable day for any itinerary. This is the single routing change from the sheet's literal city order.

  • Two ground teams. A north India guide and vehicle run Delhi, Agra and Jaipur; a separate Gujarat vehicle and driver take over at Ahmedabad airport. Both are BizareXpedition-managed, not handed to a local subcontractor without oversight.

  • Two long Gujarat driving days. Ahmedabad to Dwarka and back, 466 km each way, are the trip's longest single days. There is no shorter road link to Dwarka from Ahmedabad.

  • Taj Mahal closure. Closed every Friday. If your dates land on one, your guide moves the visit to the afternoon before or after.

  • Statue of Unity closure. The complex is closed every Monday. Departures are dated to avoid it.

  • Dwarkadhish Temple access. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside. Sources disagree on non-Hindu access to the inner sanctum; your guide confirms the current rule on the day.

  • Alcohol in Gujarat. Gujarat is a dry state. Foreign visitors can get a free temporary tourist liquor permit, usually within about a day. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur have no such restriction.

  • Delhi air quality. Winter months can bring heavy smog to Delhi; this does not affect Agra, Jaipur or Gujarat, and is worth knowing about if you have respiratory sensitivities.

  • Dwarka's vegetarian rule. Dwarka town serves vegetarian food only, in keeping with its status as a pilgrimage site.

  • Extending further. Udaipur, Jodhpur and Ranthambore all sit within a day of Jaipur, before the flight to Ahmedabad, if you would rather lengthen the Rajasthan leg instead of flying direct.

Itinerary (Day Wise)

Most first trips to India stop at Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. This 12-day private tour covers all three, then keeps going. You spend your first days among Delhi’s old bazaars and Mughal tombs. You see the Taj Mahal twice, once at sunset from across the river and again at sunrise, and then explore Jaipur’s forts and palaces. From Jaipur you take a short flight to Ahmedabad instead of facing a 12-hour drive, and walk through its UNESCO-listed old city. Next you visit the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world, and finish at Dwarka, a temple town on the Arabian Sea where you cross the new Sudarshan Setu to Beyt Dwarka. One company plans the whole trip, from airport pickup in Delhi to drop-off in Ahmedabad, so you never have to join two tours together yourself.

Day 1

ARRIVE DELHI | WHERE THE EXTENSION BEGINS

Route: Arrive Delhi airport, transfer to hotel, about 20 km

Your guide meets you at Indira Gandhi International Airport for the transfer to your hotel.

This itinerary is built as the natural western extension to the Golden Triangle: three nights in Delhi, one in Agra and two in Jaipur, exactly as a first-time India trip usually runs, followed by Gujarat, a state most Golden Triangle itineraries never reach. Settle in this evening; sightseeing starts tomorrow.

Experience of the Day

  • Airport pickup and check-in

  • Rest after your flight

Food

Recommended: Dinner at the hotel.

Must-Try: North Indian thali: dal makhani, butter naan and raita.

Activities to Do

  • Arrival and rest

Day 2

DELHI | OLD DELHI

Route: Old Delhi local, about 25 km

Spend the morning at the Red Fort, the Mughal seat of power from 1639 until 1857, and Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, completed in 1656 under Shah Jahan, the same emperor who built the Taj Mahal you will see on Day 4.

In the afternoon, a cycle-rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk's packed lanes takes you past spice, textile and jewellery markets largely unchanged in layout since the seventeenth century. Close the day at Raj Ghat, the memorial marking Mahatma Gandhi's cremation site.

Experience of the Day

  • Red Fort

  • Jama Masjid

  • Chandni Chowk by cycle-rickshaw

  • Raj Ghat

Food

Recommended: Lunch at a Chandni Chowk food lane.

Must-Try: Paranthe wali gali's stuffed parathas, and jalebi.

Activities to Do

  • Red Fort

  • Jama Masjid

  • Chandni Chowk

  • Raj Ghat

Day 3

DELHI | NEW DELHI

Route: New Delhi local, about 35 km

New Delhi was built as the imperial capital from 1911, and the day's stops trace that plan alongside much older ones. Qutub Minar, begun around 1192 and finished over several reigns, is the tallest brick minaret in the world. Humayun's Tomb, completed in 1572, is widely considered the design template that led to the Taj Mahal six decades later.

Drive past India Gate and the President's residence before a visit to the Lotus Temple, the Bahai house of worship shaped like a 27-petalled lotus, completed in 1986.

Experience of the Day

  • Qutub Minar

  • Humayun's Tomb

  • India Gate and Rajpath, drive-past

  • Lotus Temple

Food

Recommended: Dinner at a Delhi restaurant known for Mughlai cooking.

Must-Try: Butter chicken and seekh kebab.

Activities to Do

  • Qutub Minar

  • Humayun's Tomb

  • Lotus Temple

Optional Nearby Excursions

  • Akshardham Temple, if your schedule allows an extra stop

Day 4

DELHI TO AGRA | THE ROAD TO THE TAJ

Route: Delhi to Agra via the Yamuna Expressway, about 230 km, 3 to 4 hours by road

The Yamuna Expressway is a fast, modern six-lane highway, a different experience from the rest of this trip's driving days. You reach Agra by early afternoon, with time for Agra Fort, a red sandstone fortress begun by Akbar in 1565, before a sunset view of the Taj Mahal across the river at Mehtab Bagh, a garden built specifically to frame that view.

The Taj Mahal itself is visited tomorrow at sunrise, when the light and the crowds both work in your favour.

Note: The Taj Mahal is closed to visitors every Friday. If your dates fall on one, your guide moves the Taj visit to the afternoon before or after instead.

Experience of the Day

  • Agra Fort

  • Sunset view of the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh

Food

Recommended: Dinner at a hotel restaurant.

Must-Try: Agra's own petha, a translucent sweet made from ash gourd.

Activities to Do

  • Drive to Agra

  • Agra Fort

  • Mehtab Bagh

Day 5

AGRA TO JAIPUR | SUNRISE AT THE TAJ, THEN FATEHPUR SIKRI

Route: Agra to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri, about 240 km, 4 to 5 hours by road

See the Taj Mahal at sunrise, when the marble shifts from pink to white to gold as the light changes; Shah Jahan built it from 1632 as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

En route to Jaipur, stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the sandstone capital Akbar built and then abandoned within about 15 years, reportedly over water shortages. The Buland Darwaza gate and the Panch Mahal are both intact enough to walk through as they were left.

Experience of the Day

  • Sunrise at the Taj Mahal

  • Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's abandoned capital

Food

Recommended: Lunch near Fatehpur Sikri.

Must-Try: Dal baati churma, on crossing into Rajasthan.

Activities to Do

  • Taj Mahal at sunrise

  • Fatehpur Sikri

  • Drive to Jaipur

Day 6

JAIPUR | THE PINK CITY

Route: Jaipur local, about 40 km

Amber Fort, built from 1592 on a hilltop above Maota Lake, opens the day, followed by the City Palace, still partly home to Jaipur's former royal family, and Hawa Mahal, the 1799 pink sandstone facade of 953 small windows built so the women of the royal household could watch the street below unseen.

Jantar Mantar, Maharaja Jai Singh II's eighteenth-century astronomical observatory next door to the City Palace, closes the sightseeing day; its Samrat Yantra sundial can read the time to within about two seconds.

Experience of the Day

  • Amber Fort

  • City Palace, Jaipur

  • Hawa Mahal

  • Jantar Mantar

Food

Recommended: Dinner at a Jaipur restaurant.

Must-Try: Laal maas and gatte ki sabzi.

Shopping

Johari Bazaar for gemstones and jewellery, Bapu Bazaar for textiles and jutti shoes.

Activities to Do

  • Amber Fort

  • City Palace

  • Hawa Mahal

  • Jantar Mantar

Day 7

JAIPUR TO AHMEDABAD | INTO GUJARAT

Route: Fly Jaipur to Ahmedabad, about 1 hour 40 minutes; road distance is roughly 655 km, which this trip does not drive

Jaipur to Ahmedabad by road is about 655 km, not a reasonable single day for any group, so this leg is flown rather than driven; a direct flight runs about 1 hour 40 minutes. A separate car and driver, based in Gujarat, meets you at Ahmedabad airport and stays with you for the rest of the trip.

The afternoon is a walking introduction to Ahmedabad's old city: the stone jali screens of Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, completed in 1573, and a pol, one of the gated residential clusters that make up the old city's historic neighbourhoods.

Note: This is the one deliberate change from the sheet's literal routing: Jaipur to Ahmedabad is flown, not driven, because the road distance is not a workable day for any itinerary. Everything else keeps the sheet's stated order.

Experience of the Day

Flight to Ahmedabad

Sidi Saiyyed Mosque jali screens

A walk through an old-city pol

Food

Recommended: Dinner at the hotel.

Must-Try: Gujarati thali: dal, kadhi, farsan and sweets.

Activities to Do

  • Flight to Ahmedabad

  • Old city walk

Day 8

AHMEDABAD TO KEVADIA | THE STATUE OF UNITY

Route: Ahmedabad to Kevadia, about 200 km, 4 hours by road

Kevadia is home to the Statue of Unity, at 182 metres the tallest statue in the world, a likeness of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel completed in 2018. The viewing gallery sits at 153 metres, reached by a high-speed lift, looking out over the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada river.

See the statue and the dam at sunset from the gallery, when the light over the Satpura and Vindhya ranges either side of the river is at its best.

Note: The Statue of Unity complex is closed every Monday. Departures are dated so this visit never falls on one.

Experience of the Day

  • Statue of Unity viewing gallery

  • Sardar Sarovar Dam at sunset

Food

Recommended: Dinner at the hotel.

Must-Try: Gujarati thali.

Activities to Do

  • Drive to Kevadia

  • Statue of Unity

Day 9

KEVADIA TO AHMEDABAD | RETURN LEG

Route: Kevadia to Ahmedabad, about 200 km, 4 hours by road

A second look at the complex in the morning, with time for the Valley of Flowers walkway and a boat ride on the reservoir, before the drive back to Ahmedabad.

This return leg is the other half of the Kevadia-to-Dwarka correction: the sheet's stated route runs straight from Kevadia to Dwarka, a drive with no reasonable single-day road option. Both legs route through Ahmedabad instead, kept here exactly as that correction requires.

Experience of the Day

  • Valley of Flowers walkway

  • Boat ride on the reservoir

  • Drive back to Ahmedabad

Food

Recommended: Dinner at the hotel.

Must-Try: Undhiyu, if in season, with Gujarati rotli.

Activities to Do

  • Second visit to the Statue of Unity complex

  • Drive to Ahmedabad

Day 10

AHMEDABAD TO DWARKA | THE LONG COASTAL RUN

Route: Ahmedabad to Dwarka, about 466 km, 7.5 to 8 hours by road

This is a full day in the car by design: Dwarka sits on Gujarat's far western coast, and there is no shorter road link from Ahmedabad. Leave early, with a lunch stop en route, and plan to arrive by early evening.

Dwarka is one of Hinduism's Char Dham, the four pilgrimage sites associated with Krishna, who is believed to have ruled his kingdom from here. Settle in this evening; sightseeing begins in full tomorrow.

Experience of the Day

  • Long transfer day, Ahmedabad to Dwarka

Food

Recommended: Dinner at the hotel.

Must-Try: Kathiawadi thali.

Activities to Do

  • Drive to Dwarka

Day 11

DWARKA | KRISHNA'S WESTERN KINGDOM

Route: Dwarka local, including Beyt Dwarka, about 60 km

The Dwarkadhish Temple, with a 72-metre spire visible across the town, is the day's centre; non-Hindu entry rules at the inner sanctum are not consistent across sources, so confirm with your guide on the day. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside.

Beyt Dwarka, an island associated with Krishna's residence, is reached via the Sudarshan Setu, a 2.32-kilometre cable-stayed bridge opened in February 2024, the longest of its kind in India. Close the day at Gomti Ghat and the Rukmini Devi Temple.

Experience of the Day

  • Dwarkadhish Temple

  • Sudarshan Setu crossing to Beyt Dwarka

  • Gomti Ghat and Rukmini Devi Temple

Food

Recommended: Dinner at the hotel.

Must-Try: Gujarati-Kathiawadi thali; Dwarka town is strictly vegetarian.

Shopping

Shankh (conch shell) items and religious souvenirs near the temple.

Activities to Do

  • Dwarkadhish Temple

  • Beyt Dwarka

  • Gomti Ghat

Day 12

DWARKA TO AHMEDABAD | DEPARTURE

Route: Dwarka to Ahmedabad, about 466 km, 7.5 to 8 hours by road

The drive back to Ahmedabad closes the loop. Book onward or international flights after about 8:00 pm to leave a comfortable margin for this last long day.

Twelve days, two very different parts of India, and one route corrected in the open: the Golden Triangle you came for, and a Gujarat the Golden Triangle alone would never have shown you.

Experience of the Day

  • Road transfer to Ahmedabad

  • Onward or international departure

Food

Recommended: Breakfast at the hotel.

Must-Try: Lunch on the road.

Activities to Do

  • Drive to Ahmedabad

  • Departure

  2. Support Local and Sustainable Businesses : Eat at local restaurants, buy souvenirs from local artisans, and choose tour operators that prioritize sustainable practices and support the local community.
  3. Respect Wildlife and Natural Habitats : Avoid disturbing wildlife or their natural habitats. Stick to designated paths and observe animals from a distance without feeding or touching them.
  4. Dispose of Waste Properly : Follow local guidelines for recycling and waste disposal. If facilities aren't available, carry your waste with you until you can dispose of it responsibly.
  5. Educate Yourself and Others : Learn about the local environment, culture, and customs. Respect local practices and traditions, and share your knowledge about responsible travel with others.
  6. Choose Sustainable Activities : Engage in eco-friendly activities such as hiking, snorkeling, or visiting national parks. Avoid activities that exploit animals or damage the environment.
  7. Leave No Trace : Follow the principle of "Leave No Trace," which means leaving natural areas as you found them. Pack out all trash, avoid picking plants, and refrain from carving or writing on rocks or trees.
  8. Plant Trees Whenever Possible : Participate in local tree-planting initiatives or plant trees in your own community. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, provide oxygen, and help support biodiversity, making them vital for a healthy environment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) & People Also Ask — Golden Triangle & Gujarat Extension

We help you prepare for your trip and ensure an effortless and enjoyable travel experience.

Is this a genuine golden triangle gujarat extension, or two separate trips stitched together?

It is run as one continuous private tour by a single company: the same booking covers Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, the flight to Ahmedabad, and the full Gujarat leg, rather than handing you off between two operators

What does a north west india combined tour actually cover?

The classic Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) plus Ahmedabad, the Statue of Unity at Kevadia, and Dwarka on Gujarat's west coast, in one twelve-day loop.

Why is Jaipur to Ahmedabad a flight instead of a drive?

The road distance is about 655 km, which is not a workable single day on any itinerary. A direct flight takes about 1 hour 40 minutes, and this is the only leg of the trip that is flown rather than driven.

Why does the itinerary go back to Ahmedabad twice?

The sheet's stated route runs straight from Kevadia to Dwarka, a leg with no practical road option in either direction. Running both as return trips from Ahmedabad fixes this without adding to the trip's twelve days.

Do I get the same guide and driver for the whole trip?

No, by design. A north India team covers Delhi, Agra and Jaipur; a separate Gujarat-based vehicle and driver take over at Ahmedabad airport. This is standard for a two-state combination of this kind.

Can I add more days to the Rajasthan leg?

Yes. Udaipur, Jodhpur and Ranthambore are all reachable within a day of Jaipur, before the flight to Ahmedabad, if you would rather extend Rajasthan than add Gujarat days.

Is the Taj Mahal visited at sunrise or sunset?

Both, on different days: a sunset view from across the river at Mehtab Bagh on Day 4, then the Taj Mahal itself at sunrise on Day 5. It is closed every Friday.

What is the Statue of Unity, and how much time do we get there?

At 182 metres, it is the tallest statue in the world, a likeness of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This itinerary gives it an evening and the following morning, including the viewing gallery and a boat ride, with the complex closed on Mondays.

What is the Sudarshan Setu?

A 2.32-kilometre cable-stayed bridge opened in 2024, connecting Okha to Beyt Dwarka, an island linked to Krishna's residence. It is the longest bridge of its kind in India.

Is alcohol available on this trip?

Only in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Kevadia and Dwarka, is a dry state; a free temporary tourist liquor permit is available to foreign visitors.

How much does the tour cost?

This 12-day tour costs about Rs.298,494 to Rs.322,374 per couple at the Premium tier, or Rs.149,247 to Rs.161,187 per person. Luxury is Rs.433,062 to Rs.467,707 per couple and Ultra-Luxury Rs.668,934 to Rs.722,449. Figures are indicative.
