About
The Golden Triangle + Jodhpur + Jaisalmer circuit is BizareXpedition's private journey for travellers who want more than the standard Delhi-Agra-Jaipur loop — a full arc from the Mughal monuments of Delhi and Agra into the deep Rajput and desert heart of western Rajasthan. Over eleven days, the itinerary moves from the imperial avenues of New Delhi and the marble perfection of the Taj Mahal, through the rose-sandstone grandeur of Jaipur's Pink City, into the electric-blue laneways of Jodhpur beneath Mehrangarh's cliffside ramparts, and finally into the golden desert of Jaisalmer's living fort and the Thar dunes. Every transfer is in a private air-conditioned vehicle with a dedicated driver, and every significant monument is accompanied by a private expert guide. No shared coaches, no group timings, no compromise on pace.
Delhi opens the circuit across two days — Old Delhi's Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk, New Delhi's Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb, and the imperial sweep of Lutyens' avenues. Agra follows with the Taj Mahal at sunrise, the layered history of Agra Fort, and Akbar's abandoned capital at Fatehpur Sikri en route to Jaipur. Jaipur brings Amber Fort's Sheesh Mahal, the City Palace, and the astronomical instruments of Jantar Mantar. Jodhpur is the Blue City chapter, anchored by Mehrangarh — one of the most imposing forts in India, rising 125 metres above the rooftops below. Jaisalmer closes the westward arc: the living golden fort, the intricately carved Patwon ki Haveli, and the Sam Sand Dunes at sunset with a private camel ride and a night at a luxury desert camp beneath one of the clearest night skies in India, followed by a relaxed final day inside the fort.
This is a journey through Mughal imperial history and a thousand years of Rajput military architecture and desert culture in one continuous private arc — designed for travellers who want to see both faces of North India, Mughal and Rajput, properly and at their own pace.

Day 1
ARRIVAL AT DELHI | OLD DELHI HERITAGE WALK
Route: Arrival at Delhi – Jama Masjid – Chandni Chowk – Red Fort (exterior) – Raj Ghat
Travel: Private AC vehicle — airport/railway pickup and all Delhi transfers with dedicated driver.
Stay: Premium hotel, Delhi — Night 1 (upgradeable to 5-star hotel or The Imperial / Taj Palace).
Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport or New Delhi Railway Station, your dedicated driver welcomes you and opens the Golden Triangle + Jodhpur + Jaisalmer Circuit — ten nights across Mughal Delhi and Agra, the Pink City, the Blue City, and the Golden City of the Thar. Depending on arrival time, spend the afternoon in Old Delhi, the walled city built by Shah Jahan in 1638 as Shahjahanabad. Begin at Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, completed in 1656 with three great gateways, two 40-metre minarets, and a courtyard that holds 25,000 worshippers. Take a cycle-rickshaw through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, once the Mughal empire's grandest avenue and still its most chaotic — spice bazaars, wedding-trim shops, and centuries-old sweet stalls pressed shoulder to shoulder. Pause for an exterior photograph of the Red Fort, Shah Jahan's UNESCO-listed sandstone citadel, before ending the day at Raj Ghat, the serene black marble platform marking Mahatma Gandhi's cremation site. Overnight in Delhi.
Experience of the Day
Jama Masjid's three monumental gateways and the view from the southern minaret over the old city rooftops
A cycle-rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk — seventeenth-century Mughal capital, still at full volume

Route: Qutub Minar – Humayun's Tomb – India Gate – Rashtrapati Bhavan (drive-past) – Lotus Temple
Travel: Private AC vehicle for the full-day New Delhi circuit with private guide.
Stay: Same hotel, Delhi — Night 2.
After breakfast, spend a full day in New Delhi — the imperial capital layered over eight centuries of earlier cities. Begin at the Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, at 73 metres, the tallest brick minaret in the world, begun in 1193 by Qutb-ud-din Aibak to mark the start of Muslim rule in Delhi; the complex also holds the mysterious Iron Pillar, rust-free after sixteen centuries. Continue to Humayun's Tomb, also UNESCO-listed — the garden-tomb built in 1570 by the Mughal emperor's widow that established the architectural template later refined into the Taj Mahal, eighty years before it was built. Drive through Lutyens' Delhi: India Gate, the ceremonial avenue of Kartavya Path, and the imposing sandstone facades of Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament House. In the afternoon, visit the Lotus Temple, the Bahá'í House of Worship shaped as an unfolding white marble flower. Overnight in Delhi.

Route: Delhi – Agra (approx. 230 Kms / 3.5 Hrs via Yamuna Expressway) – Agra Fort – Mehtab Bagh
Travel: Private AC vehicle via the Yamuna Expressway.
Stay: Premium hotel near Taj Mahal, Agra — Night 3 (upgradeable to 5-star or Oberoi Amarvilas).
After breakfast, check out from Delhi and drive south on the Yamuna Expressway — 230 km of smooth highway that reaches Agra in under four hours. Agra, capital of the Mughal empire under three emperors, is best known for one monument but holds a great deal more. Begin at Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of red sandstone built by Akbar in 1565 and later refined by Shah Jahan into a palace of white marble pavilions. It was here, in the octagonal Musamman Burj, that Shah Jahan spent his final eight years under house arrest by his son Aurangzeb, gazing at the Taj Mahal he had built for his wife. In the late afternoon, cross to Mehtab Bagh, a Mughal garden directly across the Yamuna River, for an uncrowded sunset view of the Taj Mahal's marble dome turning gold — the classic reflection shot without the crowds of the main complex. Overnight in Agra.
Experience of the Day

The fort's transition from Akbar's austere red sandstone to Shah Jahan's refined white marble

Travel: Private AC vehicle for the early sunrise transfer, then the drive to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri.
Stay: Premium heritage hotel, Jaipur — Night 4 (upgradeable to 5-star palace hotel or Oberoi Rajvilas).
Rise before dawn for the day's centrepiece: the Taj Mahal at sunrise, when the marble mausoleum is at its quietest and most luminous, shifting from soft pink to pearl white as the light climbs. Built between 1632 and 1653 by Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj is inlaid with semi-precious stones in intricate floral pietra dura work across every surface — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After breakfast, check out and drive towards Jaipur, stopping en route at Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's red sandstone capital built in 1571 and abandoned within fifteen years, reportedly due to water shortage — frozen almost exactly as it was left. Walk through the Buland Darwaza, the tallest gateway in the world at 54 metres, built to commemorate Akbar's Gujarat victory, the Jama Masjid, and the marble tomb of the Sufi saint Salim Chishti. Continue to Jaipur, arriving by evening with time for a photo stop at the Hawa Mahal before checking in. Overnight in Jaipur.

Route: Amber Fort – Jaigarh Fort – City Palace – Jantar Mantar – Bapu Bazaar
Travel: Private AC vehicle for the full-day Jaipur circuit with private guide.
Stay: Same heritage hotel, Jaipur — Night 5.
Spend a full day exploring the Pink City, founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and painted pink in 1876 to welcome the Prince of Wales — the only planned city of the Mughal-Rajput era and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Begin at Amber Fort, 11 km from the city on a rocky Aravalli ridge, the former Kachhwaha capital built over 150 years in a fusion of Rajput and Mughal styles. Walk through the Diwan-i-Am, the ornate Ganesh Pol gateway, and the Sheesh Mahal, whose mirror-encrusted ceiling scatters a single candle flame into a thousand points of light. Time permitting, continue to Jaigarh Fort for the Jaivana cannon and panoramic Aravalli views. In the afternoon, visit the City Palace, still partially home to the Jaipur royal family, and Jantar Mantar, Jai Singh II's 1724 astronomical observatory whose Samrat Yantra is the largest stone sundial in the world, accurate to two seconds. Close the day at Bapu Bazaar for Jaipuri quilts, blue pottery, and block-printed textiles. Overnight in Jaipur.

Stay: Premium haveli-style hotel, Jodhpur — Night 6 (upgradeable to Raas Jodhpur or Umaid Bhawan Palace).
After breakfast, check out from Jaipur and drive west towards Jodhpur — 340 km through a landscape that shifts gradually from the Aravalli foothills to the flat, scrub-thorn plains of the Marwar region. The drive takes approximately six hours, passing through Ajmer and Nagaur. Arrive at Jodhpur by late afternoon and check in. The former capital of the Marwar kingdom and Rajasthan's second-largest city, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City for the indigo-washed houses of its old town, clustered beneath Mehrangarh Fort. If arrival timing allows, drive up to the fort ramparts for the late-afternoon view over the city — one of the most extraordinary urban panoramas in India, the blue laneways stretching below the fort walls with the Thar Desert visible on the horizon. Overnight in Jodhpur.
Experience of the Day
The first sight of Jodhpur from the Mehrangarh ramparts — a blue city spreading below a 125-metre cliff

Travel: Private AC vehicle for the full-day Jodhpur circuit with private guide at all monuments.
Stay: Same premium haveli-style hotel, Jodhpur — Night 7.
Spend a full day in Jodhpur with a private guide. Begin at Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest and most imposing forts in India, rising 125 metres above the city on a sheer rock escarpment. Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, its walls — up to 36 metres high — have never been breached in battle. Pass through seven gateways, each marking a different military victory, into the palaces within: the Moti Mahal with its latticed screens, the gold-leafed Phool Mahal, and the Sheesh Mahal mirror work, along with a museum of royal palanquins and weaponry. Walk down to Jaswant Thada, a white marble cenotaph built in 1899, serene in the afternoon light. Continue to Umaid Bhawan Palace, one of the world's largest private residences, built between 1929 and 1943 — visit the museum wing of royal vintage cars, clocks, and artefacts. End the day at Sardar Market and the Clock Tower for spices, textiles, and silver jewellery. Overnight in Jodhpur.

Travel: Private AC vehicle through the Thar Desert as the landscape empties into sand and scrub.
Stay: Premium fort-area hotel, Jaisalmer — Night 8 (upgradeable to The Serai or Suryagarh).
After breakfast, check out from Jodhpur and drive west into the Thar — 290 km of increasingly open desert, camel tracks, and villages of thatched bhungas. Jaisalmer appears from a considerable distance: a golden sandstone fort rising from the desert floor, built in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal on the 76-metre Trikuta Hill — the only fully inhabited medieval fort in the world, home to roughly 3,000 residents within its walls. Arrive by early afternoon and check in. Spend the afternoon inside the fort itself — narrow laneways, Jain temples, carved havelis, and rooftop restaurants — before sunset deepens the sandstone into gold and amber. Jaisalmer Fort is UNESCO-listed as part of the Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Overnight in Jaisalmer.

Stay: Luxury desert camp, Sam Sand Dunes — Night 9 (private tented cottage; upgradeable to The Serai / Suryagarh Desert Camp).
After breakfast, begin with the finest civilian architecture in Jaisalmer. Visit Patwon ki Haveli, five interconnected mansions built between 1800 and 1860 by the Patwa merchant family, carved over fifty-five years into honey-coloured sandstone jaali screens and balconied galleries. Continue to Salim Singh ki Haveli, with its distinctive peacock-shaped upper storey. Walk to Gadisar Lake, a fourteenth-century reservoir ringed by temples and cenotaphs. By midday, drive 42 km into the Thar to Sam Sand Dunes, the most dramatic dunefield near Jaisalmer. Check in to your luxury desert camp for a rest before a private camel ride at sunset, moving through the dunes as the light turns gold, red, and then purple. Return to camp for a bonfire dinner under an open sky with virtually no light pollution — stargazing at Sam is among the finest available anywhere in India. Overnight at the desert camp.

Travel: Private AC vehicle transfer back to Jaisalmer, with time for an optional excursion.
Stay: Premium fort-area hotel, Jaisalmer — Night 10 (final night of the circuit).
Wake early at the desert camp for the dunes at first light, before breakfast and the short drive back to Jaisalmer. The remainder of the day is kept free by design — after nine days of steady movement, a slower pace suits Jaisalmer well. Guests who want to keep exploring can take an optional excursion to Kuldhara, an abandoned Paliwal Brahmin village 18 km away, deserted overnight in the early nineteenth century according to local legend and left untouched since — one of India's most atmospheric ghost towns. Alternatively, Bada Bagh's royal cenotaphs and wind turbines make an evocative sunset stop. Otherwise, spend the afternoon browsing the fort's carved-stone lanes for textiles and silverwork, and close the circuit with a rooftop farewell dinner overlooking the illuminated golden fort. Overnight in Jaisalmer.

Need To Know
Be Responsible Traveller
- Minimize Plastic Use : Bring a reusable water bottle, shopping bag, and utensils to reduce the need for single-use plastics. Many destinations have water refill stations and eco-friendly stores.
- Support Local and Sustainable Businesses : Eat at local restaurants, buy souvenirs from local artisans, and choose tour operators that prioritize sustainable practices and support the local community.
- Respect Wildlife and Natural Habitats : Avoid disturbing wildlife or their natural habitats. Stick to designated paths and observe animals from a distance without feeding or touching them.
- Dispose of Waste Properly : Follow local guidelines for recycling and waste disposal. If facilities aren't available, carry your waste with you until you can dispose of it responsibly.
- Educate Yourself and Others : Learn about the local environment, culture, and customs. Respect local practices and traditions, and share your knowledge about responsible travel with others.
- Choose Sustainable Activities : Engage in eco-friendly activities such as hiking, snorkeling, or visiting national parks. Avoid activities that exploit animals or damage the environment.
- Leave No Trace : Follow the principle of "Leave No Trace," which means leaving natural areas as you found them. Pack out all trash, avoid picking plants, and refrain from carving or writing on rocks or trees.
- Plant Trees Whenever Possible : Participate in local tree-planting initiatives or plant trees in your own community. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, provide oxygen, and help support biodiversity, making them vital for a healthy environment.
