About
The Rajasthan with Taj Mahal Heritage Circuit is BizareXpedition's private journey for travellers who arrive knowing they want to see the Taj Mahal and Rajasthan on the same trip, without piecing together two separate itineraries. Over eight days, it links the Pink City of Jaipur, the tiger forests of Ranthambore, the marble perfection of Agra, the Blue City of Jodhpur, and the lake-palace city of Udaipur into a single private arc — proof that Agra's greatest monument sits naturally within a Rajasthan journey rather than as an awkward detour from Delhi. Every transfer is in a private air-conditioned vehicle with a dedicated driver, and every significant monument is accompanied by a private expert guide. No shared coaches, no group timings, no compromise on pace.
Jaipur opens the circuit across two full days — Amber Fort's Sheesh Mahal, the City Palace, and the astronomical instruments of Jantar Mantar. From there the itinerary turns toward the wild: Ranthambore National Park, a former royal hunting ground and one of the world's most reliable places to see a wild Bengal tiger, with two private jeep safaris timed for the best light of the day. The circuit then swings east to Agra for a private tour of Agra Fort and a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal itself, before the long transfer west into the Blue City of Jodhpur, anchored by Mehrangarh — one of the most imposing forts in India. The journey closes in Udaipur, arguably the most romantic city in India, with the City Palace, a private Lake Pichola sunset cruise, and two nights beside the water to end the circuit at an unhurried pace.
This is a compact but complete introduction to North India's two great narratives — Mughal monuments and Rajput royalty — plus a wildlife chapter most Golden Triangle itineraries skip entirely, all in seven nights and at a private, tailor-made pace.

Day 1
ARRIVAL AT JAIPUR | AMBER FORT & PINK CITY HERITAGE
Route: Arrival at Jaipur – Amber Fort – Jaigarh Fort – Hawa Mahal – Johari Bazaar
Upon arrival at Jaipur International Airport or Railway Station, your dedicated driver welcomes you and opens the Rajasthan with Taj Mahal Heritage Circuit — a private journey linking the Pink City, a tiger reserve, the Taj Mahal, the Blue City, and the City of Lakes in one continuous arc. Jaipur, founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and painted pink in 1876 to welcome the Prince of Wales, is the only planned city of the Mughal-Rajput era and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Begin with Amber Fort, 11 km from the city on a rocky Aravalli ridge — the former capital of the Kachhwaha Rajputs, built over 150 years in a fusion of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Walk through the Diwan-i-Am, the ornate Ganesh Pol gateway, the Sheesh Mahal whose mirror-encrusted ceiling scatters a single candle flame into a thousand points of light, and the sacred Shila Mata Temple. Continue up to Jaigarh Fort, connected to Amber by an underground passage, for panoramic Aravalli views and Jaivana — the world's largest wheeled cannon, never fired in battle. Return to the city for golden-hour photography at Hawa Mahal, the five-storey sandstone screen facade of 953 latticed windows, before an evening walk through Johari Bazaar. Overnight in Jaipur.
Experience of the Day
Amber Fort's Sheesh Mahal — a mirror palace that turns a single candle into a constellation
UNESCO World Heritage architecture: Rajput military power and Mughal decorative genius in one complex
Jaivana — the world's largest wheeled cannon, mounted on a gun carriage the size of a house
The Hawa Mahal at golden hour — 953 windows in five storeys of pink sandstone latticework
Johari Bazaar — Jaipur's legendary gemstone and jewellery street, at its most atmospheric in the evening
Food — Where to Eat & What to Try
Recommended:
1135 AD (Amber Fort complex) — royal Rajasthani dining inside the fort; book in advance
Laxmi Misthan Bhandar (LMB) — Jaipur's most iconic vegetarian restaurant since 1954
Peacock Rooftop Restaurant — city views, multi-cuisine, ideal for a first evening
Must-Try:
Dal Baati Churma — baked wheat balls with lentils and sweetened crumbled bread
Pyaaz Kachori — Jaipur's legendary deep-fried onion-filled street snack
Laal Maas — fiery slow-cooked mutton curry with Mathania chillies
Shopping — Where & What to Buy
Johari Bazaar — precious and semi-precious gemstones, Kundan and Meenakari jewellery
Bapu Bazaar — Jaipuri block-printed quilts (razais), mojaris, printed fabrics
Activities to Do
Private guided tour of Amber Fort — interior courts, Sheesh Mahal, Ganesh Pol gateway
Jaigarh Fort walk and Jaivana cannon
Sunset photography of Hawa Mahal and evening Johari Bazaar walk
Optional Nearby Excursions
Hot-air balloon over Jaipur at sunrise — book 3 months in advance for Dec–Jan
Nahargarh Fort sunset rooftop — panoramic Pink City view with a café
Day 2
JAIPUR SIGHTSEEING | CITY PALACE, JANTAR MANTAR & BAZAARS
Route: Jaipur – City Palace – Jantar Mantar – Jal Mahal Viewpoint – Bapu Bazaar
After breakfast, spend a second day exploring the walled city's cultural and intellectual core. Begin at the City Palace Complex, still partially home to the Jaipur royal family, and visit the museum in Chandra Mahal — seven storeys of royal costumes, weapons, manuscripts, and artefacts, including the Mubarak Mahal textile collection with the world's largest single garment, a robe belonging to Maharaja Madho Singh I. Walk across to Jantar Mantar, the UNESCO-listed astronomical observatory built by Jai Singh II in 1724 — nineteen monumental masonry instruments that include Samrat Yantra, the world's largest stone sundial, accurate to two seconds. Continue to the Jal Mahal viewpoint on Man Sagar Lake, where the eighteenth-century Water Palace appears to float on the surface. Spend the afternoon at Bapu Bazaar and Kishanpol Bazaar for Jaipuri quilts, block-printed fabrics, and blue pottery before returning to the hotel. Overnight in Jaipur.
Experience of the Day
City Palace — one of India's finest palace museums; still a royal residence
Jantar Mantar — eighteenth-century masonry astronomy; the world's largest stone sundial, still accurate to two seconds
The floating Jal Mahal — one of Jaipur's most photographed landmarks
Jaipur's finest bazaar shopping before the circuit moves toward the wild
Food — Where to Eat & What to Try
Recommended:
Niro's Restaurant (MI Road) — Jaipur's oldest fine-dining restaurant since 1949
Anokhi Café — organic farm-to-table light meals in a heritage courtyard
Must-Try:
Ghewar — traditional Rajasthani sweet, widely available year-round in Jaipur
Shopping — Where & What to Buy
Anokhi (Tilak Marg) — premium block-printed kurtas, stoles, and home linen
Bapu Bazaar — Jaipuri razais (quilts), mojaris, printed cotton

Jal Mahal photography stop and bazaar shopping
Optional Nearby Excursions
Albert Hall Museum — Indo-Saracenic architecture housing Rajasthan's finest artefact collection

Day 3
JAIPUR – RANTHAMBORE | INTO TIGER COUNTRY
Route: Jaipur – Ranthambore / Sawai Madhopur (180 Kms / approx. 3.5 Hrs) – Evening Jeep Safari
After breakfast, check out from Jaipur and drive southeast to Sawai Madhopur, gateway to Ranthambore National Park — 180 km through Rajasthan's rural interior, roughly three-and-a-half hours by road. Ranthambore, once the private hunting ground of the Jaipur maharajas, became one of the first nine reserves under Project Tiger in 1973 and is today among the most reliable places in the world to see a wild Bengal tiger by day. The park's dry deciduous forest is scattered with the ruins of the tenth-century Ranthambore Fort and a series of ancient lakes and pavilions that give the landscape a haunting, storybook quality unlike any other Indian reserve. Check in to your lodge by early afternoon and set out for an evening jeep safari into one of the park's designated zones, tracking not only tigers but sloth bears, leopards, marsh crocodiles, and more than 300 recorded bird species. Overnight at the lodge, close to the forest boundary.
Experience of the Day
The drive from the Pink City into open scrub-forest country — a complete change of pace and landscape
Ranthambore's crumbling tenth-century fort and lakeside pavilions rising out of the forest
An evening jeep safari with a private naturalist — the best light of the day for tiger movement
A wilderness night at the edge of one of India's most storied tiger reserves
Food — Where to Eat & What to Try
Recommended:
Dinner at the lodge — most Ranthambore properties serve a set multi-course Indian and continental menu
Vinayak Restaurant, Sawai Madhopur — a good option for guests in independent stays
Must-Try:
Rajasthani thali at the lodge — dal baati churma is served at most Ranthambore properties
Note on Safari Permits
Ranthambore safari permits are issued on a strict daily quota by the Forest Department and sell out well in advance during peak season (Oct–Mar) — we strongly recommend confirming this package at least 60–90 days ahead to secure preferred zones and jeep timings
Two private jeep safaris are included in this package: one on the evening of arrival, one on the following morning
Activities to Do
Evening private jeep safari inside Ranthambore National Park
Naturalist-led wildlife and bird spotting
Optional Nearby Excursions
Ranthambore Fort — a short detour possible on the safari route through certain zones
Village walk near Sawai Madhopur — rural Rajasthan away from the tourist circuit
Day 4
RANTHAMBORE – AGRA | TIGER RESERVE TO THE TAJ
Route: Morning Jeep Safari – Ranthambore – Agra (approx. 200 Kms / 4 Hrs) – Agra Fort
Rise early for a second jeep safari at first light, when tigers are most often seen moving between waterholes before the heat sets in — a naturalist accompanies every drive to interpret tracks, calls, and behaviour. After breakfast at the lodge, check out and drive northeast towards Agra — 200 km through the Rajasthan-Uttar Pradesh borderlands, past the fringes of Keoladeo (Bharatpur) territory, reaching Agra in around four hours. Agra, capital of the Mughal empire under three emperors, holds a great deal more than its single famous monument. Check in and spend the afternoon at Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of red sandstone built by Akbar in 1565 and later refined by Shah Jahan into a palace of white marble pavilions. It was here, in the octagonal Musamman Burj, that Shah Jahan spent his final years under house arrest by his own son, gazing at the monument he had built for his wife. In the evening, cross to Mehtab Bagh, a Mughal garden directly across the Yamuna River, for an uncrowded sunset view of the Taj Mahal's marble dome turning gold. Overnight in Agra.
Experience of the Day
A dawn safari at Ranthambore — the quietest, most active hours of the tiger reserve
The shift from wilderness to empire in a single day's drive — jungle to Mughal capital
Agra Fort's Musamman Burj — where a grieving emperor spent his final years watching the monument he built
Mehtab Bagh at sunset — the Taj Mahal's reflection across the Yamuna, without the crowds
Food — Where to Eat & What to Try
Recommended:
Esphahan (Oberoi Amarvilas) — Mughlai fine dining with a direct Taj Mahal view
Pind Balluchi — reliable North Indian and Mughlai multi-cuisine
Must-Try:
Petha — Agra's iconic translucent sweet, made from ash gourd
Mughlai Paratha and Bedai with spiced potato
Activities to Do
Morning private jeep safari at Ranthambore
Private guided tour of Agra Fort
Mehtab Bagh sunset visit for the reflection view of the Taj Mahal
Optional Nearby Excursions
Itmad-ud-Daulah ("Baby Taj") — the marble tomb often called the Taj Mahal's first draft
Sadar Bazaar, Agra — marble inlay work and leather goods
Day 5
SUNRISE TAJ MAHAL – AGRA TO JODHPUR
Route: Taj Mahal (Sunrise) – Agra – Jodhpur (Option A: 570 Kms / approx. 10 Hrs, or Option B: Agra–Jaipur drive + Jaipur–Jodhpur flight)
Rise before dawn for the day's centrepiece: the Taj Mahal at sunrise, when the marble mausoleum is at its quietest and most luminous, shifting from soft pink to pearl white as the light climbs. Built between 1632 and 1653 by Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj is inlaid with semi-precious stones in intricate floral pietra dura work across every surface — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After breakfast, check out and begin the journey west towards Jodhpur, the longest transfer of the circuit. Two options are available and we strongly recommend Option B. Option A drives the full distance — Agra to Jodhpur via the Jaipur bypass, roughly 570 km and 10 hours, feasible but tiring, especially straight after a sunrise start. Option B, which we recommend, drives Agra to Jaipur (240 km / approx. 4.5 hrs) with a comfort and lunch stop, then takes the afternoon Jaipur–Jodhpur flight (approximately 1 hour), arriving in Jodhpur by early evening with energy to spare for a first look at the Blue City. Whichever option is chosen, arrive in Jodhpur for hotel check-in, and if timing allows, a drive up to the Mehrangarh Fort ramparts for the sunset view over the city. Overnight in Jodhpur.
Experience of the Day
The Taj Mahal at sunrise — marble shifting through pink, gold, and white with almost no crowds
The long westward transfer — the emotional pivot of the circuit, Mughal plains giving way to Rajput desert
First sight of Jodhpur from the Mehrangarh ramparts, time permitting — the blue city spreading below a 125-metre cliff
Food — Where to Eat & What to Try
Recommended:
Breakfast at the hotel before the Taj Mahal visit
Lunch en route at Jaipur (Option B) — Rawat Mishthan Bhandar for a quick, quality Kachori stop
Must-Try:
Pyaaz Kachori at the Jaipur lunch stop, if Option B is chosen
Note on Day 5 Options
Option B (fly) is strongly recommended — the direct Agra–Jodhpur road is long and tiring after an early Taj Mahal start; the Jaipur–Jodhpur flight saves several hours and preserves energy for the Blue City
Flight availability: Jaipur–Jodhpur has limited daily services; we recommend booking the moment this package is confirmed to avoid capacity issues
Activities to Do
Sunrise guided visit to the Taj Mahal
Evening fort rampart drive for sunset views over Jodhpur, time permitting
Optional Nearby Excursions
Kachhpura Village viewpoint — an alternative, quieter Taj Mahal photo spot across the river
Day 6
JODHPUR SIGHTSEEING – JODHPUR TO UDAIPUR
Route: Mehrangarh Fort – Jaswant Thada – Umaid Bhawan Palace – Jodhpur – Udaipur (approx. 250 Kms / 5 Hrs)
Spend the morning in Jodhpur with a private guide before the final leg to Udaipur. Begin at Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest and most imposing forts in India, rising 125 metres above the city on a sheer rock escarpment. Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, its walls — up to 36 metres high — have never been breached in battle. Pass through several of its seven gateways into the palaces within: the Moti Mahal with its latticed screens, the gold-leafed Phool Mahal, and the Sheesh Mahal mirror work, taking in the finest urban panorama in Rajasthan from the ramparts. Walk down to Jaswant Thada, a white marble cenotaph built in 1899, and continue to Umaid Bhawan Palace, one of the world's largest private residences, built between 1929 and 1943 — visit the museum wing of vintage cars and royal artefacts. After lunch, check out and drive south to Udaipur — 250 km through the Aravalli foothills, arriving by early evening for a first look at Lake Pichola. Overnight in Udaipur.
Experience of the Day
Mehrangarh Fort — 125 metres of sheer cliff topped by walls that have never fallen to an enemy
Jaswant Thada — white marble against the blue sky, quiet and profoundly photogenic
Umaid Bhawan Palace — the last great palace built in India, still a royal residence and hotel
The drive south into the Aravallis — the desert giving way, gradually, to lakes and hills
First evening view of Lake Pichola and the City of Lakes
Food — Where to Eat & What to Try
Recommended:
Indique (rooftop, near the fort) — Rajasthani thali with a fort panorama, for lunch before departure
Ambrai Restaurant (Udaipur lakefront) — for a first Udaipur dinner with City Palace views across the water
Must-Try:
Makhaniya Lassi — Jodhpur's legendary thick saffron lassi, before you leave the Blue City
Activities to Do
Guided tour of Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, and Umaid Bhawan Palace museum
Afternoon transfer to Udaipur
Evening leisure by Lake Pichola
Optional Nearby Excursions
Mandore Gardens — ruins of the former Marwar capital, 9 km from Jodhpur, if the morning allows extra time
Day 7
UDAIPUR CITY SIGHTSEEING | CITY PALACE, LAKE PICHOLA & TEMPLES
Route: Udaipur – City Palace – Lake Pichola (Private Boat) – Jagdish Temple – Saheliyon ki Bari
Spend a full day in the City of Lakes. Start at the City Palace, the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, begun by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559 and expanded over 400 years — eleven separate palaces built in a continuous structure along the eastern shore of Lake Pichola. Your private guide leads you through the crystal gallery, the zenana mahal, the Manak Mahal with its glass peacock mosaics, and the lakeside terraces where the view of the white marble Lake Palace Hotel rising from the centre of the lake is the defining image of Udaipur. After the palace, board your private boat for the Lake Pichola sunset cruise — moving past the Lake Palace and Jag Mandir island as the palace-lined shores turn gold. Walk to Jagdish Temple, a seventeenth-century Indo-Aryan black stone temple, intricately carved on every surface, and continue to Saheliyon ki Bari, a royal garden built for the ladies of the household — lotus pools, fountains, and marble elephants. Overnight in Udaipur.
Experience of the Day
City Palace — 400 years of continuous royal construction along the lakeside
The Lake Palace Hotel rising from Lake Pichola — best seen from the private boat cruise
Jagdish Temple — black stone carving of extraordinary detail
Saheliyon ki Bari — a royal garden designed for leisure, not ceremony
Food — Where to Eat & What to Try
Recommended:
Ambrai Restaurant (lakefront) — the finest outdoor dining experience in Udaipur
Upre by 1559 AD (Lake Pichola Hotel) — rooftop dining with Pichola and Aravalli views
Must-Try:
Dal Banjari, Rajasthani Kadhi, and Malpua with Rabri for dessert
Shopping — Where & What to Buy
Hathi Pol Bazaar — Udaipur's most atmospheric market for textiles, miniature paintings, and silver
Activities to Do
Full private guided tour of City Palace complex
Private sunset boat cruise on Lake Pichola
Jagdish Temple and Saheliyon ki Bari visits
Optional Nearby Excursions
Bagore ki Haveli — evening Rajasthani folk performance on the lakefront
Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh Fort) — hilltop ruin with panoramic Aravalli and lake views at sunset
Day 8
UDAIPUR DEPARTURE | FATEH SAGAR LAKE MORNING
Route: Udaipur – Fateh Sagar Lake (Optional) – Maharana Pratap Airport / Railway Station
After breakfast and checkout, spend the final morning of the circuit at leisure in Udaipur before departure. If time allows, visit Fateh Sagar Lake — 3 km from the city centre, quieter and less famous than Pichola but equally beautiful, with a boat ride to Nehru Island Garden or a simple walk along the embankment promenade as the last experience of the City of Lakes. Your dedicated driver will then transfer you to Maharana Pratap Airport or Udaipur Railway Station for your onward journey, marking the conclusion of the Rajasthan with Taj Mahal Heritage Circuit — seven nights across the Pink City, a tiger reserve, the Taj Mahal, the Blue City, and the City of Lakes.
Experience of the Day
A quiet final morning in Udaipur — the unhurried close of a well-paced journey
Fateh Sagar Lake — Udaipur's second great lake, at its most peaceful in the morning
The satisfying arc of the full circuit: Mughal monuments and Rajput heritage, wildlife and lakes, in seven nights
Activities to Do
Optional Fateh Sagar Lake visit before departure
Departure transfer to Udaipur Airport / Railway Station
Optional Nearby Excursions
Nehru Island Garden, Fateh Sagar — a short boat ride to the island garden in the middle of the lake
