8. Do we need a guide for Sankri to Kedarkantha trek??

If you are a first-time visitor, then you need an experienced guide. But if you are going in the peak season, you will find other groups of trekkers which you can follow.

9. What are some tips for a first-time trekker for the Kedarkantha trek??

  • Try to travel in a group and avoid a night walk near jungles.
  • Always carry your water bottle.
  • Try to keep all the essential trekking things in your backpack without adding extra weight.
  • Keep your backpack as light as you can (not more than 15 kg). Night in the Kedarkantha would be chilling, so wear proper woolen clothes. You can also use the layering method to keep your body warm.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and do not litter.

15. How to reach Kedarkantha?

To reach Kedarkantha, you have to first come to Dehradun. Dehradun is well connected by road, rail, and air transports. From Dehradun, you will get any public transport (bus or jeep) to Sankri Village which takes approx 8 to 9 hours to reach. From Sankri, there are two trails for Kedarkantha Base camp, one from Juda-Ka-Talab and the other from Hargaon. 16. How much distance do we have to trek each day?

You have to trek approx 5 km every day.

17. Where do we stay when we are on the trip?

There are few homestays and accommodation options available in Sankri village where you can stay on your trip. But other than Sankri, there are no such options. So it is better to carry your tent if you are trekking solo. But, if you took the trekking package from any travel company, then don't worry because they will provide you with a staying and food facility.

18. Is Kedarkantha trek safe for the girls?

Yes, Kedarkantha Trek is safe for girls/females. The villagers are decent and helpful. So you don't have to worry about your safety because you will not face any such situation in Devbhoomi. But it is always advised to take care of your personal belongings.

19. Is the Kedarkantha trek suitable for families and children?

Yes, this trek is good for families and children. You can do this trek with family members if they are medically and physically fit. Proper execution and planning will ensure the best & lifetime cherishing trip for your family.

Warm woolen clothes, fleece jacket, thermal and raincoat are recommended. Here temperature remains pleasant in the summer, but it faces bone-chilling cold in winters.
