Nagpur is Pench's nearest gateway, roughly two hours by road through a landscape that turns from farmland to teak forest as you approach the reserve. Check in by early afternoon and head straight into Turia, Pench's busiest and most accessible core zone, for an orientation safari that works the Baginnalla waterhole beneath the reserve's distinctive Ghost Trees — a good opening chance at leopard as well as an introduction to the tiger family lines your naturalist will be tracking over the next two days, including Collarwali's own descendants, still holding territory in Pench today. Route: Turia Zone (Baginnalla) – Karmajheri Zone (Sita Ghat, Pench River)

The morning works Turia's mixed acacia forest and open rock country a second time, in the light that makes early morning the strongest window for a tiger sighting here. In the afternoon, the safari shifts to Karmajheri — quieter, with denser teak cover — for Sita Ghat, a bend on the Pench River where the reserve's gaur and sambhar herds come to drink and wild dog packs are regularly seen working the tree line. Route: Jamtara Zone – Best Zone Revisit

The morning heads into Jamtara, Pench's quietest and least-explored core zone — banyan groves and a real chance at sloth bear, away from the crowds that build up around Turia by mid-morning. In the afternoon, the safari returns to whichever zone gave the strongest sighting over the past two days for a second attempt. Over the day, your naturalist tells the honest version of Pench's most repeated story: Rudyard Kipling never actually visited this forest, and based The Jungle Book's descriptions on other parts of India he had seen — the connection is real in spirit and in the landscape's resemblance to Kipling's setting, not in a literal visit. Route: Pench Zone Safari – Pench – Kanha (approx. 210 Kms / 4-5 Hrs)

A final Pench safari this morning before breakfast and checkout. The drive to Kanha runs roughly four to five hours, heading north-east — the same direction the overland route holds for its entire length. Route: Kanha Zone (Meadow Circuit) – Kisli Zone

The morning safari opens in the Kanha zone's meadows, the reserve's original core and still its most productive grassland — this is Neelam's territory, tiger T-65, whose parents built Kanha's most recognised tiger lineage. In the afternoon, the safari shifts to Kisli, denser bamboo and sal forest that was, for over a decade, the territory of Munna — tiger T-17, one of the most filmed tigers in the world before his death in 2021. In the afternoon, the safari shifts to Mukki, denser forest with a real chance at leopard, before the drive climbs toward Bamni Dadar, Kanha's celebrated Sunset Point, timed to arrive well before the light drops so you can watch the Maikal hills turn amber and then rust as evening comes on. Route: Tala Zone – Chakradhara Meadow – Badi Gufa Caves – Shesh Shaiya

A full day in Tala, Bandhavgarh's oldest zone and the one carrying both its highest tiger density and its deepest history. The morning safari heads for Chakradhara, the open meadow that was Charger's home territory through the 1990s, its open sightlines the reason international wildlife documentaries, including BBC's Dynasties, have filmed here. In the afternoon, the safari shifts toward the fort's base, stopping at Badi Gufa, a 10th-century meditation cave with Brahmi-script inscriptions, and Shesh Shaiya, a 65-foot reclining Vishnu carved directly into rock. The safari moves away from Tala's crowds into Magadhi and Khitauli. The morning works Magadhi's grassland and waterholes, including Sukhi Patiha, in a landscape with markedly less vehicle traffic than Tala. The afternoon continues into Khitauli, dry-deciduous forest that has become Bandhavgarh's best zone for elephants — a herd relocated here from Chhattisgarh in 2018 has settled in and grown. Route: Tala Zone Safari – Bandhavgarh – Khajuraho (approx. 212 Kms / 5 Hrs)

A final Bandhavgarh safari this morning closes out the wildlife half of the circuit. The drive to Khajuraho continues the same northward line the circuit has followed since Pench, roughly five hours, the landscape opening from sal forest into the Bundelkhand plateau. Check in by early evening and, as the heat breaks, take a first private guided walk through the Western Group, timed for the last two hours before sunset, when the eleventh-century sandstone turns from ochre to deep gold. Overnight in Khajuraho.

Route: Western Group of Temples

A full day working the Western Group's sculptural detail — Kandariya Mahadev's shikhara and the Lakshmana Temple's base frieze, where the Chandela dynasty's carvers worked figures and narrative panels into every available surface of the sandstone. Your guide reads the sculptural programme in sequence, from the temple's plinth to its spire, rather than a general walk-through. Overnight in Khajuraho.

Route: Eastern Group (Jain Temples) – Southern Group

The Eastern Group's Jain temples sit apart from the Western Group both geographically and stylistically, and are usually far quieter of other visitors. The Southern Group's Duladeo and Chaturbhuj temples close the day at their quietest. Overnight in Khajuraho, with a relaxed final morning before tomorrow's departure.

Route: Khajuraho – Khajuraho Airport (approx. 5 Kms / 15 Min)

A free morning in Khajuraho — time for a last look at any temple group, or simply breakfast at leisure — before the short transfer to Khajuraho's own airport for your onward flight. Khajuraho has scheduled air connections to Delhi and Varanasi, making it a genuinely practical point to close a circuit that began nearly 640 kilometres away by road, in Nagpur.
